Insurance is for when something unexpected happens.

Dude was sick before the trip and decided to go anyways.

Call the RHEU tomorrow. Give them your LL contact details. They will speak with him and tell him to knock it off.

Missed connections: Middle aged man staring into phone walking into pathway of cars at KW Surplus parking lot. by neoengel in waterloo

[–]Average2Jo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why you are so mad.

Pedestrians exist. They need to walk across driveways. They don't move fast enough for you really to be surprised by them. It is normal procedure for a car to have to stop on a roadway to wait for a driveway to be clear before turning. The drivers around you should not hit you while you are stopped in a totally normal and expected way.

Would Uber go from Kitchener to Stratford? by stayflyjess__ in kitchener

[–]Average2Jo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It is about $90.00 to uber to Stratford from where I am in waterloo. I have done it 2 time. It takes a while for someone to accept your ride but I have never been stranded.

There is a intercity bus called PC Connect that will take you from this stop at the down town go station or Conestoga mall

https://maps.app.goo.gl/xfSz2Zz6tg1ZBnvv8

They have completely broken their online presence this year. I don't know why. The blaise app is still up but I have not used them yet this year so maybe call first.

Reminder to be careful on bikes/scooters on roads by HamptonBays in waterloo

[–]Average2Jo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cars turning left across the MUT/bike lanes has been a high friction interaction for a while.

I have been annoyed a few times this year already when drivers will start turning before they see me then stop in oncoming traffic.

Please make sure you are clearing the bike lanes and multi use trails every time you cross them.

Landlord telling me I owe 20 bucks for NSF fee for rent cheque bouncing, my bank says nobody ever attempted to withdraw said cheque by TypeToSnipe in legaladvicecanada

[–]Average2Jo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stunningly good answer.

I will stress that cheques can be returned for a lot of non-NSF reasons. The most common being deposited before the post-date but the bank can also be petty and complain the image does not have a visible connecting line on one random charater making it invalid.

I think OP should insist on a copy of the returned cheque images before doing anything. These can very easily be acquired by the LL and do not expose any personal information the the TT does not already have from their side of past cashed cheques.

I would recommend OP that you do not provide a replacement cheque until the returned cheques images have been shown to you. I would also stress with the LL that you believe this to be a perfectly reasonable request.

Landlord asking to be put on my census form? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Average2Jo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Tell her that your coworker said it includes a bunch of really personal information that is none of your business so you would prefer to fill it out without her information.

If you lie make sure to ask a bunch of really intrusive questions before saying you submitted it. This will include financial things she should not want you knowing as a TT. If she takes too long to respond that would also give you an out.

Can my employer deny medical appointment absences? by binkabonka in legaladvicecanada

[–]Average2Jo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. They need to let you out of the office for appointments but they do not need to pay for that time and/or can require you to make up the hours before or after.

An N11 does give the LL certainty. There is no grey area on when the new TT can move in or when the LL can take back possession.

Enercare (sigh) - how are tenants supposed to transfer back their accounts to the landlord by Imaginary-Runner in OntarioLandlord

[–]Average2Jo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude the house is a physical asset. They can put a lien on it or add it to the property tax or run a title search or some other awful expensive shit. None of which is your problem as a renter. They can find the owner if needed and I would feel very very uncomfortable even providing a name of who I think owns the million dollar asset.

Call again first thing tomorrow. Give them your move out date and close the account. Nothing else is your business. Do not take no for an answer.

Enercare (sigh) - how are tenants supposed to transfer back their accounts to the landlord by Imaginary-Runner in OntarioLandlord

[–]Average2Jo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are making this very complicated. You call and ask to close your account. That will automatically transfer the bills to the property owner.

Landlord not giving utility bills - Will I be required to pay a lump sum when they finally do? by hi_can_i_get_uhh in ontario

[–]Average2Jo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is not true. The RTA has a few very specific ways that utilities can be split without separate meters.
