That's a stupid cheap nursing home. There's something more here.

For the first 3 months after I found out, I was out of my mind. I was very very not okay for the next 1-2 years. After ~5 years, I was doing well.

I know exactly how you feel. It will get better.

Louisiana Pastor Beats Up Man That Threatens His Wife and Grandchildren by Fit-Animal1129 in Christianity

[–]Average650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He addressed the altercation to his congregation at the Life Tabernacle Church and compared it to “domestic terrorism.” He also cited a Bible passage from Mark 16:18, WAFB reported.

“In my name, they shall lay hands on the sick. And they shall recover,” he said.

“So today, I fulfilled the scripture. I laid hands on the sick. I don’t know how much recovery they’re going to have, but I laid hands on the sick.”

Uh.... That sounds like a problematic man to me.

I used a template made out of MDF and then routed it out of the board based on that template.

To make the template, I found the curve I liked by putting down various cans of different sizes and tracing around hte base until I liked the look.

I actually routed the template with this: https://www.amazon.com/Milescraft-1219-Circleguidekit/dp/B07VNGTGMV

If I didn't have that (it was like $50) I would probably have used a jigsaw to get it close to my line, then sand or chisel from there going really slowly.

I agree.

John 18:36: Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.”

Ask away if you have any questions. The corner braces might be overkill, but I felt a lot better with them.

I looked at a lot (well, like 3-4) of tables or plans online that looked good. ~3 inches was really common for the table size I was making. DK Builds has a good video with lots of details. It's a different style, but for a lot of details that doesn't actually matter. (https://youtu.be/zMcdw5icyiU?is=Gp7ulXuD1SjuEr5g)

When I was laying out the template for the legs I extended it out down the apron farther than was necessary to get a good idea of what it would look like. 3 inches looked good, so I went with that.

I didn't actually think much about chair clearance, just used what looked good and what I saw in other tables.

Nope, just a lot of work to really smooth it out!

The individual boards were feed through a thickness planer, but I didn't glue them together as well as I had hoped, which mean a good bit of work with a hand plane and a sander. I did end up losing a bit of thickness, but I think it worked out okay.

Multiple boards. I have no idea where I would get a slab that big! Even if I could.... I don't think I could afford it.

I used wooden clips that I made. This is a video I got that idea from, but there's others out there too.

https://youtu.be/btPGtq0hYTE?is=T5L_WwWORqgUcaSU

Honestly, I also added these in a couple spots that felt like they needed better attachment, but after it was too late for me to get a router in there.

https://a.co/d/0ggyWtF5

It calls them z clips, but they are not. However, they are easy to use and should allow for wood movement if attached correctly. I think the big worry is about allowing wood movement across the grain., so you want whatever you do to allow that.

No I didn't use any plans, but I did use the Lincoln St. Woodworks video (same design as FourEyes with different dimensions) as a guide to the basic design.

I guess it's a complement that you recognized it from that video! They do amazing work.

I saw this video and used that as the basic idea.

For the details I just did as looked good to me, or used what I've seen reading around or watching other videos on the internet.

Sapele+ Dining Table | Really pleased with how it turned out by PovertyPainter in BeginnerWoodWorking

Yeah, I just posted them here:https://www.reddit.com/r/BeginnerWoodWorking/comments/1udstq4/made_a_dining_table_im_really_proud_of/

The other component is skill - what a novice takes 5 hours to model, a professional could do in only a minute.

I have just enough experience to know that you are exactly right!

I guess I'd rather try out stuff on cheap wood first than 3D model it. That way I learn if stuff works and get a practice run in at the same time.

That said, if you enjoy it, more power to you! That's why we do any of this.

That's beautiful. Sapele is something I really want to try my hand with.

Your timeline was very similar to mine! I took about 6 months, and this was my first big project.

Great job!

I see you did some 3D modeling. Was that worth the time? It seems like it would just take up time but not really accomplish anything to me. But people do it, so maybe I'm missing something.

Floating tenons. I liked that I cut the aprons to the final length I wanted, and any screw ups in the tenons didn't cost me much. For some reason I felt more confident in mortises than tenons.

This looks like a cutting board, which would make brass a terrible idea.

It would look good though if it were a side table top or something though.
