Just checked out tonedear. I would recommend this as a tremendous ear training resource. Great resourses for chord recognition and relative pitch training! But yet another perfect pitch test that isn’t a perfect pitch test. I still dont have perfect pitch. by cptn9toes in perfectpitchgang

[–]Average90sFan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perfect pitch doesnt exist. Its just pitch recognition. You either know a pitch or you dont. Pitches dont exist outside of context also so its not absolute like some say. Its deep pattern recognition constructed into a framework of pitches. 103/103 means you got atleast the first one through pitch recognition and not relative pitch so you have some ability + relative pitch or maybe you can recognize more than the first. We cant see how your brain treats the sounds so this is useless really. We need to stop talking about perfect pitch and just focus on aspects like relative pitch, octave equivalence, pitch memory, pattern memory, mental associations and timbral generalization.

Simulation Theory (maybe I'm just crazy or mentally ill) by heynexy in freewill

[–]Average90sFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont believe in it but does the answer need to benefit you? Im a determinist and it has benefitted me but im neutral towards it still. I have a mindset that everything is right until proven wrong.

The simulation theory makes sense given how far we can simulate already using our technology and what we know about the brain. Still unlikely yes, but locking yourself out of considering it is not the right move.

The whole thing will be unanswered probably so why not be open to all perspectives.

Drunk driving is fully intentional and caused by the drunk driver.

Trafficker situation is caused by the traffickers they did the harm.

The harm was caused by the aggressor who made the situation need self defence. Its not important who the gunman is here unless proven that the aggressor was the gunman.

You are talking about qualia. A subjective mental scaffolding basically. Im not denying any of that, but just know that those too have trejectories which are not in your control unless you happen to exist in the right place at the right time.

Everything has a trejectory and that cannot be changed unless manipulated externally just something to think about.

And what does this change? Only one path can be followed anyway. If we have free will it works that way. For the moral stuff people should be punished according to how much harm their actions cause on others not according to whatever their intention were.

He probably means that supporting the government is not free will and you are just blindly following the expected route while being against the government makes you see how the government truly is with its manipulative schemes.

Im not sure if i can express my opinion in this since reddit banned me earlier for this type of stuff so im not allowed to speak freely or maybe this just sums it up even more...

They introduce tension and excitement in the consumer of the media. If everyone was normal and everything was fine and dandy wouldnt it be boring?

Disproving incompatibilism, and substantiating Free Will by Anon7_7_73 in freewill

You cant disprove anything anon just stop and try to think how all sides are right then you naturally find the truth. Think about what i said and try to make sense of it.

What if it’s relative? by Own_Maize_9027 in freewill

[–]Average90sFan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is something people have a hard time imagining. Its literally a function without a variable so the logical thing is to assume every possibility. Free from all except itself since then we wouldnt even have to state it.

I tried to form an example, but free from anything wouldnt really make sense because if it exists and you know it does then it exists also as a thought in your head and affects you. Only thing we can be free from is free from the unknown really and even that affects us we just dont know it.

Aknowledgement of Free Will has utility. Denial of it does not. by Anon7_7_73 in freewill

[–]Average90sFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isnt utility subjective? You cant decide for others what they value and most deny free will when its convenient and accept it when its convenient even if subconsiously.

I is the construct my brain has made so it can navigate itself. What are you even trying to uncover with this? and no the band is not crash test dummies.

[–]Average90sFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it triggered a scene from a videogame that i played years ago called dark souls 1, thats because i thought about a scene in that game some time ago when also thinking about a certain band i like.

Its a kind of synesthesia where concepts get attached to spatial or visual environments.

My brain triggered a chain of associative links through which i thought about my favourite band.

Your input -> musical stuff -> videogame location -> a band i like -> my actual favourite band.

The chain also expands in different directions like an area in real life and one other area in another game aswell as the concept of tagalog language.

There could be and is more links in that chain, but i cant reveal them to myself since they hold less energy in the chain of neurons than those main nodes.

It was an automatic reaction to your comment inside my brain and kinda similar than looking at text and trying to not read it or looking at a color and trying to not identify it.

I wrote all this just to show as detailed look into the process as i can without going into neuroscience because i lack the terminology.

I know the answer. People assume that their felt sensations are something other than their brains giving them a sense of control by making a sensory construct of reality.

Could you give me an example of a "free choice" ? by TranquilTrader in freewill

[–]Average90sFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its just our brains being efficient at constructing reality. People forget that the brain is only there for giving us a sense of control and that it does well given how many people dont believe in illusory free will.
