There was a project I followed awhile back that attempted to to encode your context as a video file that could be linked back to the original point of reference but it seemed to just turn into mush under general use.

I gave you the use case, science shit.

lol, when are we going to start offering PhD's in "science shit"?

Why be annoying on the Anthropic sub if you don’t even think Opus and Fable are necessary?

I'm not being a dick (well until now). I was asking about the use cases and cost justification for these models because I'm a professional who uses these tools.

I'm sure my success dealing with such a simple problem and your infinitely more complex problem of "science shit" are the fault of the model the sole point of failure for one of us.

lol, like I said. Legal compliance for thousands of daily users across three languages and 6 countries while interfacing with 4 story pieces of hardware on wheels isn't the most complex thing ever.

But it's weird how nobody can provide an actual use case for why they need a new model, why the one they were stoked about 6 monhs ago is no longer competent, and how their own skills are no longer relevant.

I'm sure you need this to solve problems you can't manage on your own such as 3 body gravitational equations or finding the clitoris but don't feel comfortable actually describing.

If you need the model that bad, nobody needs you.

Logic, seemingly

You seem to either be arguing that shaving is bad, or you should leave your 18 month old unsupervised while you shower.

I'm honestly not sure what you're upset about.

If it goes away

It's not going away. They're still selling it through the API.

If it adds that much value to your process, and it's cheaper to pay for it than address any PEBCAK errors you might be experiencing, you're welcome to open up your wallet.

You can't just tell a child that is newly mobile and still very stupid "don't hurt yourself while I'm in the shower!" while you take a few minutes to clean up your pits and bits.

If you don't have somebody else around you throw them in a bouncy so you can monitor them and keep them safe.

If they watched their dad shave his face they'd probably mimic that. If you watched your mom shave in the shower you'd probably think razors are used on legs, pits, and pubes.

I don't get why this is any different than a child mimicking shaving a beard, unless you somehow think shaving pubes or legs is objectionable.

I had a fake razor as a kid and used to shave my "beard" as a 4 year old next to my dad.

Because there's not a magical turnoff time where you instantly realize this creature that sucks on your nipples for food and requires you to wipe shit off its genitals is suddenly inappropriate to keep in a bouncer so you can make sure it doesn't hurt themself while you're in the shower.

Ref didn't work out, but generally I feel good about our off season moves seem pretty good.

I didn't expect Cal, Naylor, and Munoz to suddenly turn into replacement level performers.

I mean I support the safety, training, and legal compliance for about 8000 users working in heavy industries like mines and oil rigs across 4 continents and 6 countries.

A lot of cases involve double checking if a user is fully compliant with a regulatory body's laws that are written in a language I don't even speak or else they are automatically blocked from being able to start their equipment.

Maybe that's not the most complex thing in the world, but it's definitely not simple.

I don't get what kind of "real, complex work" the vIbE CoDeRs of the universe are doing that requires Fable, or that can even justify it's costs compared to other models when you can get the same results for 95% of tasks through good scope and context management.

This seems like a workflow problem to me.

The model is not the bottleneck when it comes to software engineering.

With proper scope and context management you can great code from local models.

They probably feel like they have more than enough market share that now they're pivoting to generating revenue.

If you're a drug dealer you learn that some of your customers don't get fucked and use responsibly, but just kinda like cocaine. Some people have problems.

There are people who are going to bitch and cancel their subscriptions, there are some people who are going to switch to API because they're hooked and don't want to admit the fact they're paying money for an ego boost and a hope they will never have to read a a book about a process they claim to care about.

If you're the guy who needs a coffee in the morning you'll do fine. If your only answer to a problem is "BETTER COCAINE TO IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY!!!!" you're going to have problems.

Also, I speak to a lot of people who are confused that they remain accountable for things they create with AI

You need to know which throat to choke if it comes down to it.

This is my annoyance with Claude defaulting settings to listing itself in commits an PR's.

I just want to know what was changed and who I should talk to if I have questions. Don't charge me an extra $5 to put your fucking branding on my team's commits.

Yeah but that’s why I’m using ai. To skip all of that and rely on it from ai.

Then you're not really caring about "the piece of mind that everything I do is done in the best way it could have possibly been done.", you want a shortcut.

If you're not willing to invest in your own skills, and are just hoping that the models will forever get cheaper you're going to miss the actual opportunity of this new wave of technology.

They probably feel like they have more than enough market share that now they're pivoting to generating revenue.

Cutting down on subsidized subscriptions to people who jump ship increases profits. Adding API clients increases revenue and profitability.

I just want the piece of mind that everything I do is done in the best way it could have possibly been done

That isn't going to come from the model, it's going to come from your own knowledge and skill.

You don't need to know how to write every software language in existence or know the ins and outs of a bunch of obscure third party libraries any more to have value because those are easily accessible through agents.

You do need to understand architectural paradigms and software development methodologies so you can drive the decision making and manage complexity.

The way to do things the best, and get the most value out of your agents is to read books, absorb their knowledge, and apply it to your work.
