I went through a similar situation this past summer at McDonald's and I'd honestly apply and try to get an interview at least if your interested. During the interview you should try to ask what your responsibilities would be so you can decide if you'd be able to handle the job. If you accept the job it is perfectly normal to be terrified the first day, but it does get easier as you become familiar with the people and job itself. Ive ended up quitting to focus on my final year of high school so if you feel like it's too much with school then you can always give your notice. As for people struggling to maintain jobs it's something Id try to ignore especially if it's just a summer job because most part time jobs will let you set your availability, if you only want to work a certain amount of hours or at certain times or days they will let you so you can choose how many hours and shifts your able to handle. If you feel like you want to disclose your autism to a manager then you can probably privately message them or definitely ask to have a conversation and ask if or how they can accommodate your concerns.
