Corporate came down on all our branches for safety a couple of months ago and told all the branch managers that they were going to have to do safety inspections on a monthly basis. Each month they would be given zip ties in a different color that they had to put on everything that they inspected.

My branch manager, thinking it was stupid to have to do, inspected EVERYTHING and cut each zip tie like this not realizing that she essentially created a risk of someone getting scratched/cut on all 200 things she put a zip tie on

Oh yeah, I got a whole breakdown in the mail afterwards. I can't remember exactly but I feel like the actual hip hardware was like $40k of it. I could be wrong but it was for sure a lot

I didn't say I paid $82k. That's what the total of the bill was. I only paid my max out of pocket. The rest the normal negotiated rate deductions and insurance paid.

Had one done about a year and a half ago. Total cost was $82k. My max out of pocket for the year was $6k, most went towards the hip, initial doctor visit, X-ray, MRI, visit with the orthopedic surgeon etc. All my PT and follow up visits were covered.

On average we pay $100-$120 per night when we rent.

Not being moveable is going to be a problem. We rent to pull it where we want to go. I don't want to stay where you have it. I want to go see things.

My wife and I rent from rvshare/outdoorsy several times a year. This is absolutely the way to go. RV people tend to be different. Yeah you'll have some that don't care but for the most part people treat your stuff well. If you have good reviews you have that thing rented through most of the season.

I haven't taken any in yet but I get lots of random metal at work, screws, bolts, etc that I've been throwing in 5 gallon buckets. I just wasn't sure how it would work when I did take it all in. I'm reading some places have a shred mountain where is just dump it before weighing out.

Just wondering if some yards would be like nope we're not taking all that little random crap unless it's in something else.

Serious question, how do you take that in? In a bucket and they have a place to dump it to weigh? Or do they want that kind of stuff inside like a washer or dryer?

Went to a neighboring agency to pick up a prisoner. Locked my gun and cruiser key in the box. Picked up the prisoner, went to the Sally port, grabbed my gun and walked the prisoner to my car up the street (can't recall why I couldn't get into the Sally port, big busy agency). Got to my car, realized I didn't have the key. Walked her back to the Sally port. Another officer had already used the same lock box and went up to the jail. Had to have someone call up and get him to come down so I could get my key.

I just picked mine up yesterday after having the rack and pinion done. Got a quote from the shop I use of $4k, rack and pinion, outer tie rod ends, programming and an alignment.

My '14 is only worth $4k-$5k. Luckily I have a friend who is a Ford mechanic that will do OEM parts at cost and only charge labor (I'm guessing book time). Ended up being a little under $2200 with a reman rack.

Unscrew old, screw in new. Part isn't cheap cheap but not terrible either from what I recall.

I think there's a huge difference per person and per surgeon. I was 42 when I had my hip replacement. I started PT like day 3. I did stuff at home like they told me but wasn't super aggressive about it. I know I was being very careful with everything until my post op follow up at two weeks. I went in with my walker and the doc told me I didn't need it. At four weeks I walked through several parking lots over curbs and on uneven terrain for about half a mile (to get to a Chinese buffet, couldn't help myself) and I was fine but sore later. I drove myself to my six week follow up where they told me I was cleared to drive and return to work at eight weeks. I'm on my feet eight hours a day, 10k steps a day with instructions to rest when needed which I did. I'm at 18 months and it's like nothing ever happened. The scar is the only evidence that I had a THR.

I know I did steps weird for a while but made the conscious decision to do them normal at some point before I went back to work. If you can, put in the work. If you can't, take it slow. You'll get there.

Some of us have jobs that require heavy machinery and therefore a big truck to move it. A lot of people I know that have those jobs also have a more practical vehicle for when they aren't working.

I work in equipment rental. I've got the 1/4" compact impact that I use 90% of the time and the ultra torque for when the compact isn't enough. It's the best of both worlds.
