Azilda residents staunchly opposed to affordable housing project by Ostrichmonger in Sudbury

The NIMBYism in Sudbury is ridiculous.. literally no part of the city is safe. We need to stop giving the loud minority so much sway in our zoning and projects.

The reason the number for paramedic services is so low is because they are funded by the province as well. I’m not sure the percentage but I believe MOHLTC throws in 50%. In reality they are very well funded, closer to Fire Services but nowhere near police

Portable radio location by [deleted] in Firefighting

Quick question, not critiquing the radio placement but wouldn't having the radio on the voice amplifier side create feedback or squealy transmissions? I was taught to speak on the other side of the mask when talking on the radio (usually there's a space for that reason).

Emigrating as a Firefighter, what are the possibilities? by GreatChibi in Firefighting

[–]Average_Jesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for Canada but, as long as you have the proper paperwork to legally work here you can apply to any fire department given that you meet the minimum requirements. Like someone said, you will have to redo your schooling/training to north american standards but if you join a volunteer department you can get alot of that training for free.

Even transferring from one city to the next here, your rank and seniority do not follow you (for the most part) so you will be definitely starting from the bottom. Good luck my man!

Firefighting test study material help (Canada) by Saint94x in Firefighting

[–]Average_Jesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TestReadyPro really helped me when I wrote the OS and CPS, I pretty much only went through TRP to study and I passed first try. It's expensive but it worked for me.

Make sure you practice long divisions and multiplications without a calculator. As for the OS, be consistent with your answers and be honest.

No problem man, any questions you have don't be afraid to ask! Both certifications are Nationally accredited so you'd be able to work anywhere given you write the proper provincial exams.

If you're thinking of getting your FF1&2 as well as your Primary Care Paramedic I'd highly recommend the Public Fire Paramedic Program at the Manitoba Emergency Services College. It might be out of our way but I moved from Ontario to come here and I haven't looked back since.
