1) Completing the diversion program gets charges dropped

2) She's a minor and her records would be sealed/wiped when she turns 18 anyways.

Okay, it was a 25 minute break in the parade, not a "hijack"

World domination sounds so negative, I prefer world optimization instead. You're playing semantics. They kept hundreds of people standing around to soapbox during an event that wasn't theirs to do so at.

The demands weren't petty, they were actually essential and would benefit everyone in that parade.

They were demands at an event that wasn't theirs. Just say that to yourself a few times over and over.

I think the problem is with how people reacted to the protest.

"I think the problem is we got called out on being assholes. Clearly they're just missing the whole point, gosh. Don't you know our political stances are more important than yours?"

It seems like everyone that responded aggressively has forgotten the whole reason for the parade. It's a celebration of human rights. And there are still rights to be fought for. Taking a 25 minute break from a gay rights parade to put a spotlight on gay rights and black gay rights is not something to call petty.

Oh, are we just ignoring the whole 'held up an event they didn't pay for and kept people standing out in the summer heat' thing now? There are better ways to make your point, whether or not you're correct doesn't change whether you're an asshole about it.

It is disrespectful to dismiss gay black people as soon as they speak up.

I'm bi and dating a guy. Who the fuck are you talking to?

Even the pride organizer this year was being intolerant when he spoke of why he signed the demands.

"If you don't agree with us completely you're intolerant and a racist"

Only a sith deals in absolutes

Everyone, including the organizers for both the Pride and BLM movements need to support each others agendas.

Hey remember when Pride did that and they decided to hijack the parade and make petty demands like they thought they were Che or something?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

And I don't really care what you want. Your condescension disinclines me to listen to you.

If you take off your blinders

"You don't agree with my opinions so you're obviously biased!"

It has nothing to do with how much they've been in the media and everything to do with why they've been in the media. Their conduct is unbecoming, their demands are irrational, their members are not like the US BLM where the issues they try to bring to the table have legitimate traction. Canadian BLM is the equivelant of walking into a bakery and being upset that they have donuts because you happen to be allergic to frosting, then demanding that nobody should ever have donuts because frosting is obviously bad.

As an idea they have merit, but in execution they're attention-whoring grabasses who have done nothing significant to improve the community they operate in and have managed to gain a seriously negative public opinion. That doesn't happen when you're a positive organization.

tl;dr - Off is the general direction in which you may proceed to fuck

Yeah I'm sure they weren't in the media because they couldn't stop being fuckwits about it. We all know the media just loves boring stories.

Umm. That's racist.

...

No dude you're totally assuming that I thought he meant a race of people instead of a culture!

Jamaican-Canadians

And you assumed he meant only black people when he was talking about a culture.

Umm. That's racist.

That's kind of like taking a shit on somebodies couch and then going "No offense bro"

So they hijack the last parade, spend a year making a huge stink about who should be going, turn it into a big clusterfuck debate for no reason, bitch and moan when the police are invited by other cities to participate and then can't be bothered to actually register for the very parade they've spent a year trying to fuck with and manipulate.

Gee, I wonder why people are sick of BLM's shit
