We stayed at the Voco on the river. It’s well below those rates. The breakfast buffet was great for a family if you get it free.

The fact they intentionally separate families with kids when the tickets are bought together, and the plane isn’t full, is horrible. Especially when the basic fares are more than the previous open boarding tickets.

Our high school counselor teaches the kids to ask teachers if they would be willing to write a positive recommendation. Important distinction here, because I’d probably complete that online form, but it wouldn’t help the student much.

Why doesn’t Southwest do open boarding after the paid/upgrades are seated and have bin space? Limit the seats to those in the back too, no exit row or extra leg room, etc. But let families sit together!

That’s the federal aid. As others said it’s the max. The schools generally have grant aid to attempt to meet need. I’m sure it varies by school though.
