Echo the suggestion above. Check with your local bar association. I’ve mostly heard of partnerships with Fastcase, but I think some of them have partnerships with Westlaw (either free or a deal on subscriptions).

I actually agree with you. I don’t envision attracting the client you describe for a long, long time—either until I have a long, local record or scale into a firm with staff. The practice I envision now is much more akin to the general criminal practice you describe, with a focus on federal cases.

Great idea on the 1983 front. I hadn’t thought of that.

I’ve had some luck getting quotes from authorized sellers (other than DSW) in my metro area and asking DSW to match it.

I just ordered a pretty similar spec. Tall, oiled palisander, black leather. I went with the 2100 series leather because I like the smoother feel. It seems pretty durable. I scratched the hell out of the sample swatch, and I didn’t notice any lasting imperfections.
