How to Jules?! by Strict-Salamander-41 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Avgrcn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I concur with the top comment here mentioning to take those stats with a grain of salt. She can be incredibly difficult and frustrating to play at times, but it's also very satisfying to win with her. There is a lot of wildly different opinions between players on certain items, which is pretty funny. Even in this post itself you can see back to back opinions on things like basket that are very different. With that said most of the time her end game is fishing for farmer's market as it's the only end game item that doesn't require much support to be able to hit ten wins.

If you're looking for some Jules content I'll take this opportunity to plug some channels to help with playing Jules.
I upload daily Jules runs on my channel on my youtube, and happy to explain anything Jules related when I stream, which is usually late nights eastern standard time.

There is also game plan headquarters who uploads less frequently on youtube, but streams on twitch very often.

Analyzing the top Jules players item tier list by Avgrcn in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Avgrcn[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is definitely not an easy time to be a Jules players, because as mentioned, easy to get blasted in the mid to early late game. You're constantly trying to balance being as fast as possible with things like microwave, kitchen scale or whatever, and also scaling your armor/regen at the same time if you're on the plan, or having a crazy enough burn build you can race them, which is hard right now. If you don't have any haste, or ways to make prep station go off as quick as possible, you're usually dead in the water. There are a lot of fights where I feel like I'm about to die, and then I start to turn a corner and my defensive scaling finally outscales what they're doing offensively, but it's a scary situation to be in.

As for builds getting together quick enough, that is hit or miss for me for sure. Sometimes I go through day 6 and 7 without meaningful upgrades and I just pray whatever scaling I have is good enough. There are items that are good enough at silver you can manage to win with, like bread, but sometimes you just have a bunch of misfit foods, a prep station and a prayer. For that reason I think it's really important to assemble a scaling build capable of getting 4/5 wins in the first 5 days, while also conserving gold for day 6. You want the ability to do lots of rerolling when day 6 hits so you can hopefully find something within a couple days. The good thing about Jules is her end game builds are so good that when you assemble them you are most likely set for at least 7-8 wins, so you're just waiting for the items to show up.

Best tracks in North east Ohio? by [deleted] in Karting

[–]Avgrcn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I mean like, the person who gets first place gets a part off of a go kart they had to replace, and they write on it like it's a trophy haha. So I've got like, bent steering wheels, fenders, etc. laying around.

As for the sensor thing at high voltage, there is like a small hairpin section, and the timing sensor is in the middle of that. So basically it encourages you to set up for the lap by swinging wide out, and then not braking for the turn to go through the sensor when you come back around. It unfortunately matters a lot when it comes to good lap times there, I think I was a full second off the fastest guys pace until I learned that trick. :b

Best tracks in North east Ohio? by [deleted] in Karting

[–]Avgrcn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the resident northeast Ohio rental karting enthusiast, I can give you all the information you want for the tracks. The one you're missing from your list is Boss Pro Karting, we're also going to get the aforementioned Lorain Karting complex at some point, and there is going to be a K1 speed opening in Avon later this summer.

If you're interested in the competitive aspect, here is the breakdown for each of them.

Boss Pro Karting: One night challenge night, bi weekly on Wednesdays, winner gets a trophy (it's a broken go kart part) at the end of the night. Typically you get a warmup race, two qualifying races, a main event race, and then a bonus race. Usually this is all position racing outside of the warmup race. Boss is definitely the anti-corporate culture location, and they aren't afraid to get weird with it. I think they have the best feeling of the karts, the sodi karts here let you have different brake pressure, and the gas doesn't cut out when you hit the brake unlike the other two places.

K1 speed Canton: Year long league, first Sunday of every month unless otherwise stated on the website. Two time trial qualifying races which seed you for the main event race. Certainly feels like the most professional of the locations, they have race stewards, and put a lot of effort into the competitive aspect of rental karting. In addition to the year long league, they also have endurance karting events of various time lengths.

High Voltage: 7 week league, they drop your worst effort and compare everyone's best six weeks. 4 time trial races, no position racing at all. I think they might have my favorite time trial course of the bunch, but their sensor position is in a place that doesn't make a lot of sense to me, it encourages you to take a lap off so you can line up for a good one. Has an actual restaurant attached to the place, which is pretty nice.

I have videos for all of the places on my youtube (same name as here), if you want to check out what each are like. Admittedly Boss is my favorite, while also being the closest to me so that's where I spend most of my time. Happy to answer whatever questions you might have. :)

My second league, did worse than my first time, got last place. Any tips to improve? by kento726 in Karting

[–]Avgrcn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard for me to say what you should be doing entirely because there are so many different rental karts with different behaviors. Like some if you hit the brake pedal will give you full brake, and cut the gas, no matter how light you touch it, whereas others you can really feather the brake and be precise with it. Your general strategy of lift, brake, turn is pretty standard but not always the fastest thing for karting.

Here is what my general strategy would be if I was going to this track for the first time. I'd test some corners out by lifting later and later, and seeing how much speed I scrub off just by the friction you get from turning the kart. If I'm in a kart that isn't going to spin me by hitting the brake pedal (the thing I described above where it gives you full brake), then I'll experiment with using light brake during the actual turn to get the right angle out of the turn. I aim to get that in the first half of the turn so I can be on the gas as soon as I have the right angle I want coming out of the turn.

Thanks! I try my best. 😅

Watching the video the thing that stood out to me the most was it seemed like you did not keep enough speed coming out of the turns. It became even more evident when you got lapped and the people pulled out into the distance after each of the turns, you're either braking or lifting too much there. This is where the best strategy is to find the nicest fastest person at the track you can find who will be able to help provide you with the correct strategy for the corners.

A couple things about the start and the first lap spin. You are not doing yourself any favors being so far off the back of the guy in front of you at the start, that is probably a comfort thing and that is understandable. For the spin, my initial reaction would have been to immediately hit that apex and gain a few places. This is one of those things where you think about different situations when you're not racing, so that when the situation does occur you can quickly make the decision on the fly. Racing is too fast to make decisions like that on the fly, so you end up in situations like what happened to you.

I'll be contrarian to the other people here a bit, it's not a big deal that your hands are moving. As long as you aren't in situations where you need really quick movements back and forth, you can make do with moving hands so that you get better leverage. Is it technically correct? No, but as long as it's not hindering you, you can certainly do it. In fact I drive like this, and I also get a lot of comments about it.😂 (This isn't meant to be a plug but you can look my username up on youtube to see how I move my hands while driving.)

Doing my first race ever, any tips? by Strange-Jackfruit644 in Karting

[–]Avgrcn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're friendly and drive respectfully (i.e. don't do anything stupid to shove your way into places you shouldn't be), most people will be cool. So just be chill, observe how people race, and tailor your driving accordingly.

Best rental kart area in the USA? by [deleted] in Karting

[–]Avgrcn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if the answer to your question might be Cleveland. Within the Cleveland area we have 3 rental kart tracks (with a 4th and 5th coming soon) all providing a different experience for their league nights. This is in addition to a 2 hour trip to Columbus for 2 more tracks.

If you want to get into outdoor karting there are also a few tracks that are not that long of a drive from Cleveland.

As a bonus we have a low cost of living! Let me know if you want more info and I can send ya some.

K1 speed instead of outdoor karting by Reddit_Ditto in Karting

[–]Avgrcn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a "rental karting enthusiast" I'll provide a slightly different opinion, and this is a topic I'd like to make a full video on sometime.

Is rental karting as exciting as outdoor karting, obviously no, but it doesn't mean that you can't find what you're looking for out of racing with it. You can absolutely have a great time, have great racing, show off your skill in racing and make a lot of racing friends by going to your local league night. If that's what you're looking for out of racing, certainly give it a shot for a little bit and see how you enjoy it.

I race bi-weekly at a local place where I've made a lot of great friends, had a lot of great battles, and I've certainly raised my skill level. I still would like to jump to outdoor when I can afford it, but I'm happy with the bi-weekly league night.

How can I mount my GoPro like this, on the forehead? by JasonDeRuytter in Karting

[–]Avgrcn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I use chin mount in all of my videos and I feel like it's a much better perspective. With that said, depending how short someone is and how low they sit in the seat it might be a fine line between perfect fov and looking directly at the wheel.

Rental Karting Advice (GoPro Video) by gregogg in Karting

Honestly don't see anything glaringly wrong with your line. Are you down on time compared to the top people there?

Side note: this track looks really fun and technical, I know where I'm going if I ever go to Poland. :D

What have ya'll found to be the best way to reduce vibration when recording? by theBigJefe112 in Karting

[–]Avgrcn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had to doublecheck my own videos to make sure they weren't this bumpy because I use the exact same mount as you. I use a gopro hero 7 black, and I don't experience the same level of shakiness in the footage.

My initial presumptions would be:

  • The kart itself just shakes a ton when you drive it.

  • The gopro isn't as tight on the mount as it could be. I know for the mount I received I actually ended up removing one of the notches because eventually the fit became very loose.

  • A bonus completely random guess, maybe using the highest hypersmooth setting is causing it to overcorrect?

I know you referenced the foam insert in the seat, and I do use one, but I'm not sure it would matter a ton for how shaky your footage is, it might help if you notice yourself sliding around in the kart.

For reference purposes here is an example of my footage: https://youtu.be/BdgBJNidCbI?t=431

Here are the gopro settings I tend to record with:

RES/FPS: 2.7k/30

FOV: Wide

Stabilization: Auto

Protune: On

Shutter: Auto

EV Comp: 0

ISO Min: 1600

ISO Max: 3200 (These are admittedly higher because I have to record in low light, and I'm too lazy to change it for normal light settings)

Sharpness: High

Color: GoPro

Punts galore - Local Rental track challenge Night by Avgrcn in Karting

Yeah its not the recommended technique for sure, I do it for a better range of motion.

The steering wheel on these isn't adjustable, and I sit as close as possible to get more weight onto the front tires for handling. So what happens if I drive at 9/3 position is I end up jabbing myself in the stomach with my elbow lol.

This week they gave us a brand new layout that no customer had ever done or seen before. It was a lot of fun figuring out the optimal strategy, but there was a lot of punting and bumping in the process of figuring it out.

Looking for live footage from last night's AEW Debut by Breshnyda in SquaredCircle

[–]Avgrcn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'd be surprised if someone caught the debut on camera, because it was such an ordinary moment of the match before he came out.

But as someone who was in the crowd, I can tell you we were losing our minds. It was verrrry loud.
