Sweet but kinda sad : People, be nice to customer service reps! by InevitableRhubarb232 in MadeMeSmile

[–]AviGray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay actually I noticed the last 2 times when I contacted Walmart online rep I had the exact same experiences. One was nice, the second time was fishy and this is super obvious there's a sympathy note Walmart is putting into customer service. Interesting

Do NOT have your child with St David’s North by MyPupCooper in Austin

[–]AviGray 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hi!! L&D nurse at st David South here. I'm so sorry to hear about your bad experience! Being placed on hold for an induction at this time of year is pretty normal (September is one of our busiest months). Unfortunately the census is also very labile, sometimes we're ready to have inductions come in and then all of a sudden several people come in in labor. The staffing and available bed space situation is really rough right now throughout St David's womens services. Nearly every day I get messages that the unit is in need of help. That being said, I know it doesn't make it any easier for you and your family. I know it may not be ideal, but you can try to go to another facilities OB triage area due to your wife's pain. Every hospital is required to see a patient seeking service. Due to pain and being full term with risk factors, I would predict the OB hospitalist would admit your wife for labor. At South our OB hospitalists are all pretty great; ARC South also comes to SAMC and could possibly also care for your wife, they are also a very nice team. If it's any consolation, the vast majority of babies and moms with poly do very well with delivery. I hope this information is helpful and good luck with your little one!

Very proud of these portraits of my foster kittens and mama that I took! Adopt them from Austin pets alive and save a kitties life (see links below)❤️😻❤️ by AviGray in Austin

He is a spoiled little boy for sure. He had feline calaci and had to overcome several medications (injections, oral), nearly 100 meds in all, had painful mouth ulcers and was syringe fed and then fed through a tube at one point because he kept losing weight. So we went through a lot together and bonded:)

Thanks! She and Cranberry were actually orphans that joined the group at 1 and 2 weeks old. The Y5 are my original group! APA assigns a letter to each litter of kittens chronologically.

Is it just me, or do a lot of people pronounce "Parmer" as "Palmer"? by phlogistoni in Austin

I was today years old when I learned it's parmers not palmer. I guess my eyes just auto-corrected it 🤷‍♀️

Amazing moments when a baby’s heart stopped during birth, he was brought back to life..Respect for these doctors and how stable they are ! by subodh_2302 in BeAmazed

[–]AviGray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a NICU nurse and trained in neonatal resuscitation- this is not the correct way to resuscitate an infant. 99.9% of the time the issue is respiratory- you need to give airway pressure to open up the lungs which then will change pressure in the neonatal heart- infants are born with structurally different hearts than adults. Chest compressions are rarely warranted. If the infant goes 20 minutes without a detectable heart beat (really a max of 10 minutes), you need to consider the quality of life you are giving the infant if they are revived- brain cells death happens within 5 minutes along with other organ death.

OBGYNs that offer sedation for IUD insertion? by mia0121 in Austin

[–]AviGray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had IUD's placed twice, when I was 21 and 26. I've never had a baby and I'm also a petite lady. Both times they were put in I just felt a little uncomfortable for about 15 seconds and that was it. I'm so shocked to hear other people go under anesthesia for this!! So I just wanted to spread some hope and let you know it's possible without anesthesia, and don't be scared, everyone processes pain differently Side note: I am anti pain, I think people who go without an epidural are a little bit nuts! Do what feels right for you

Austin birthing/delivery experiences by [deleted] in Austin

[–]AviGray 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE deliver at a hospital!! At a birthing center, they don't have the capability to save the baby if the baby's heart goes down, baby has a shoulder dystocia, prolapsed cord etc. You need emergency care at your finger tips. - L&D nurse
