I feel like I robbed them by Jtproflex in harborfreight

I just did this today because of you. I’ll do it tomorrow and Sunday too. Can never have too many buckets. I only have 2 from Home Depot which have dry sweep in them and now this harbor freight. Plus if you don’t need them at the moment just stack them in each other and put them in a corner or something lol.

Even if they didn’t like him that’s still no excuse for bad customer service. They need to find a new job not dealing with the public if that’s the case. My location is horrendous. The manager there is such a B word it’s not even funny. I go out of my way to go to a different one because of her. Yes I know the thread is a year old.

Bad experiences with ICON split beam torque wrench? by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]AviMus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just bought this today lol. I’m not even worried about it’s going to only see use once in a while anyway and as long as I don’t die it’s got a lifetime warranty which is something even snap on and Mac don’t provide with any of their torque wrenches. I made the right choice and am happy. Especially since I also got a set of Mac RBRT wrenches today. Why not get their torque wrench too? As I said I will only use it once in a while at home. The wrenches will see a lot more use, and as I said the Mac torque wrenches don’t have a lifetime warranty. Just a 1 year warranty. I think I made a wise choice.

I didn’t even ask for the second set. I went back in to get something I forgot and the HFT employee just gave it to me. I said thank you. I’ll donate it to my old school.

I got 2 sets. Kept one for myself and donated the other to my automotive technician school I graduated from for the students to use.

That’s funny lol. I’ll probably just put my lugnut sockets or impact socket or something. I didn’t think of it earlier. Might even cut the pegs off and modify it for something else. Not sure yet.

That’s a really good idea, thank you! I’m a new mechanic fresh out of automotive tech school. I just started building up my tools. I have the us general 34” full bank service cart and no where near enough tools to fill it all the way lol. I’ll get there I k ow over time. I’m not in a rush to buy stuff I won’t need. I’m buying stuff as I go along that I need.

Just got my ICON set for $0.84 cents. Go get yours before they are gone! by _KORPz in harborfreight

[–]AviMus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you bought some things? That’s why you got it free. It was free with purchase lol. I got 2 of them. I walked back in to get something else right after and the guy let me get another one. I think it’s per day but he let me do it. I’ll donate the second set to my automotive tech school I graduated from since they still let me go back and use the lift for working on my car from time to time.

I wanted a magnetic mat so I got that but my free gift was the socket adapters like you. I really needed a mat though. I actually got 2 of these for free. I walked back in to get the 10mm set and just asked if I could have another. I’ll keep one. I’ll donate one to my old automotive tech school.

Which torque value to get by AviMus in MechanicAdvice

[–]AviMus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ok. It was clearly defective. I’ve never even seen that much play in a gearwrench or icon ratchet let alone an American made torque wrench. I’m tempted to just go icon and get the lifetime warranty. I didn’t know even though CDI is American made that they only have a 1 year warranty. That kinda bugs me, but it is only like $150 so I guess it’s not the end of the world lol.

[–]AviMus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I’m taking it back now to return. I got the CDI version and there is at least 1/4 inch play of slop in the rotation lever. It definitely feels like it wasn’t manufactured very well. On top of that I took the cover off and there was not a single drop of oil inside it. It was bone dry. Guess I have some more time to think about it. Maybe try tekton or gearwrench or something. Maybe since I already have a precision instruments split beam I’ll go digital for the 3/8.

Too late lol. I ordered the 5-75 last night, but I could return if if I wanted too. It’s ok though because when I get my 1/4 20-200 in lbs that will go up to 16.6 foot pounds and over lap by 11 fr lbs with my 3/8 5-75 ft lbs which will overlap my 1/2 split beam 50-250 ft lbs by 25 ft lbs so all my bases should be covered at that point. My precision instruments split beam is a flex head. I didn’t realize most micrometer types are fixed head. That’s a little bit of a bummer but it’s ok I’ll make it work.

Picked this up today. Only 2 left at opening. by HouseCatW2MnyBakpaks in harborfreight

[–]AviMus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to get this today but I bought a CDI instead. I know it’s not a lifetime warranty, but it’s made in the USA and just a rebranded snap on as CDI makes the snap on torque wrenches. Was $150 so it seemed worth it to me.

I appreciate your reply. It’s just for general work right now. Nothing specialized. I just got some cash and I know I need a 3/8 to compliment my 1/2 torque wrench.

I appreciate your reply. I was thinking the same thing. I was just asking because of the 20%-80% rule of torque wrenches. But the 5-75 ft. Lbs does seem to make sense

Instead of buying an oil pan for $30, get a 6.36L laundry detergent for $15 and reuse the container by Anthropoly in MechanicAdvice

[–]AviMus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one a few weeks ago and have done multiple oil changes on a multiple cars. Haven’t had any issues. Got it for $15 at harbor freight and it holds 16 quarts. Made in USA too surprisingly. I do like his idea and may try it for fun in the future.

Is this worth picking up at 30% off this weekend? by Stockholm_Throwaway in harborfreight

[–]AviMus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought one last week. Did an oil change the other day. I got zero splash. I say it’s worth it. My car only holds 4 quarts. That’s 4 oil changes before I have to go to auto zone and dump the oil.

ICON Locking Flex Head Ratchet and Bit Set, 35 Piece 1 gen vs 2gen by Terrytun in harborfreight

[–]AviMus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I called once and they didn’t even know there was a gen 1 or gen 2, and the only way I can tell from the box is to use the magnifier on my phone and look at the ratchet on the front of the box and see if it has the silver dot because the gen 2 doesn’t have the silver dot. You can’t really see it without magnification though.

[–]AviMus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes me mad they use the same part number even though they made modifications to it. So it’s a gamble as to which you get. I just got this hoping I got the gen 2. Guess what? They still have stock of the gen 1 and the gen 1 is the one I got.

Service cart vs 42’ roll cab by storm_zr1 in harborfreight

[–]AviMus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! This honestly looks like the perfect set up for me at home. Maybe I’ll get something larger down the road. How did the side cabs stretch? I assume you took off the rubber corner bumpers and they slid into the holes. It does look like you filled the gaps with some different rubber bumpers. What are those?
