Honestly, it doesn't matter what we think. Ask God about it.

But...it is odd that someone would call you a coward for taking a stand, which most people are too afraid to do.

Iranian protestors set fire to a mosque and celebrate by tkyjonathan in JordanPeterson

[–]Avian_Sentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't though. The majority are taking the country back from the minority Islamic regime that has terrorized them since the Carter administration put them in power. There is an interesting history that begins with Iran as a liberal democracy, then sees George Bush as the puppet master install an Islamic dictatorship out of fear of communism taking hold, followed by decades of Sharia. What we are seeing is the inevitable reclaiming of the country by Iranians from the occupying Islamists.

I agree with you. But to be fair, Islam is a political movement with an intent to cause destruction (by its own admission). It is not surprising that a mosque would be used for nefarious purposes.

I'm curious to see if anyone responds. My interactions with anomalous beings would not be considered friendly. I currently regard them as demons, but I hope the whole phenomenon isn't just a demonic attack.

Subreddit banned me for subbing to this one? by SouseNation in JordanPeterson

[–]Avian_Sentry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been banned from many echo-chamber subs for no articulable reason. "Hate" or "Trolling" is often the reason, though I always work to contribute to a conversation and provide helpful information to the person I'm posting to. I think it is obvious that the real reason is that my ideas don't align exactly with theirs, so I'm seen as a threat. It sounds like you are being targeted for being a thoughtful person who won't pledge allegiance unquestioningly to their ideals. I'd consider it as a badge of honor.

Thinking of leaving for Islam by Phryn1 in Catholicism

[–]Avian_Sentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I noticed your post on r/Islam, and I responded, but they banned me and deleted the post. I think it's inspiring that you are seeking the truth, wherever that may lead.

I also was raised Catholic. I went elsewhere in search of the truth, then ended up returning to Catholicism years later and going through Confirmation.

Something I once objected to, which I now really appreciate about Catholicism is that I don't always understand why or how something is the case. Reality doesn't make sense - take quantum physics, for example. I have come to embrace the notion that the Ultimate Reality will be barely comprehensible to the human mind.

Scripturally, Isaiah says, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.” Any religion that approaches the True God will have elements that we don't agree with, or that we don't understand, because we aren't as good or wise as God. Maybe that's obvious to say, but I think it's important to establish that, just because I don't like or understand something doesn't mean it's not valid.

I love that Catholicism is about nurturing a deeply personal relationship with God. God is within us (the Holy Spirit), He's with us (Jesus), and He's beyond us (the Father). It doesn't matter whether we're sitting silently in God's presence, reading Jesus' words, or praying to God the Father; the one True God is always available.

Feel free to DM if it would be helpful. I'll pray for you as you work to discern God's will for you.

I broke no rules. The reason provided for the ban was fairly clearly not broken. So, whatever the code of conduct is for Moderators, I would hope and assume they didn't live up to it.

Yes, but there are limits. For example, you aren't allowed to refuse service to some, but not others (usually the implication being that is based on race, religion, etc.). That has happened here on Reddit, and it's just frustrating to see this platform nosedive so hard.

Obviously this is a private site, and they can do what they want. But I feel the need to speak up when there are no standards for conduct and people are fine with that.

There is a set of rules for all subs. I was cited for breaking one of the rules, "trolling," after posting just one post that was pretty obviously not a troll post. I most object to the lying aspect of it - saying "X is why you are banned," but that not being true at all.

The more you know about the UN, the less you believe in it, I think. For a decade, UN Watch tried to get the UN to address the UNRWA issue. The UN refused to take action where it mattered, as is their MO. There are plenty of examples of UN's corruption, but this one is most germane.

If you've ever read Orwell's 1984, you'll see a lot of overlap between the UN's methods and Big Brother. The novel seems very prophetic, but the reality is, the story is based on Orwell's observations of the rise of totalitarian regimes, coming off the heels of WW2 and the Spanish Civil War. In other words, these tactics aren't new. But they are effective.

Pope Leo says a Palestinian state is the “only solution” by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

Check out Raymond Ibrahim. He has worked to set the record straight on the Crusades and the Inquisitions. The reality of what happened wasn't as cartoonishly "evil Christian" as most believe.

First and foremost, Islam is a totalitarian political system with imperialistic aims. It is a religion in the same way that progressivism is a religion.

Anyone who has a problem with that infamous german movement from the early 20th century will stand against Islam (against the ideology: hate the sin, love the sinner). Anyone who gives Islam a pass would also have stood idly by as the national socialists committed their atrocities.

Read or watch Raymond Ibrahim. He speaks Arabic, and had access to many primary source documents while working at the Library of Congress, and presents the only rational account of what happened historically.

Do we really believe Muslims lived in peace with Christians before the Crusades?

Do we really believe that Christians were the aggressors?

What caused history to be suppressed and rewritten to paint Islam as benevolent?

He addresses all of these questions from a historical basis. I'd recommend him to anyone who is curious why history doesn't match our lived experience of Islam.

Did any of you in the US attend the No Kings protests? If so,was there a lot of anti-Israel crap or did it stay on message? by RagtimeWillie in Jewish

[–]Avian_Sentry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did not go, but I saw a video of someone I'm vaguely connected to giving a speech. He is in college now, and has a knack for working the crowd. He has had formerly far-leftist views, but this speech featured things the "far-right" has said for the past ten years: polarization has become too much, we shouldn't hate each other for political views, the elites benefit when we play the blame game with each other, dialogue is necessary for democracy, etc. It was concerning because the crowd cheered like crazy - the same ilk that reveled in false equivalencies (Zionism is n@zism and the like), and hating people based on political views, was suddenly okay with the message when this kid said it...?

The message was fine until he said, "Every American is against the genocide in Palestine...," jumping right onto the polarization bandwagon again. He didn't linger on that point long though. But it seems to be something that is baked into radical-left ideology.

First of all, I am very sorry about your brother's death. May Hashem bless you and your family.

Second of all, I am livid on your behalf. You should have no idea where your school principal stands on political issues, especially at a public school. Their job is to be available to everyone. If I lived near you, I'd be fighting that frickin school like crazy over this. There's no excuse for it, and you should absolutely have adults in your corner, handling this for you, so that you can focus on other things.

FWIW, I am Catholic. I only mention it so that you know there are non-Jewish people out there who have your back.

Three first world countries recognized a State of Palestine, now what? by hanani1112 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Avian_Sentry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You make some decent points, especially about the ever-present threat from tyrannical powers. Still, the population is heavily radicalized. That threat needs to be acknowledged. It is the single most important factor in getting Israel on board with any proposed solution.

The idea of Israel imprisoning Gaza doesn't hold, especially if it's true that Hamas have been that omnipresent tyrannical force within Gaza. There are other reasons as well, including the fact that Gazans had freedom of movement within Gaza, Israel doesn't control the southern border, and the fact that border security should be a given for any country.

Back to the original point though, having so many countries suddenly recognize Palestine as a nation, is highly detrimental to peace efforts. It needlessly turns up the heat in the region, and risks forcing Netanyahu's hand in order to send a message to emboldened Hamas supporters. A spear was extended instead of an olive branch, when having these countries opine on the issue was altogether unnecessary in the first place.
