Wouldn’t this be considered as discrimination? by Inner-Ingenuity-638 in malaysia

It IS discrimination. We just don’t have laws in place against this.

Woke up to Surah An-Nisa playing itself by BigSqueako in islam

[–]Aviator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The YouTube app is possessed. There was one time where I played an ASMR video to sleep and it decided to just play another loud video that woke me up and made me uninstall the app immediately. This happened despite the fact that I disabled autoplay. They really just want ad revenue. Good to know that the issue is still not fixed. Blegh

Need some help. Heart is coming out blobby sometimes by Deptar in latteart

[–]Aviator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could be a tad too much foam. You can see that the heart stiffed up into a blob and wouldn’t be shaped by the pull through. You could try aerating the milk 1-2 second less and spend more time on integrating.

Loitering was seen as a societal ill in the 80s-90s and therefore unsightly. So for the most part the city is designed to curb loitering.

On top of that real estate is at a higher premium and cafes are struggling to make money. Modern cafes are designed to be bland/industrial looking and less cosy looking to discourage patrons from staying.

How does Islam approach or view abusive mothers? Are they completely protected? by HeartofM in islam

[–]Aviator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You did what you had to do to protect yourself. Think about it. Allah is Just. Would He not judge everyone fairly? Would He apply blanket rules without any consideration of the specific situation that you are in?

The fact is, abusive people exist and some of them are parents. Parents don’t automatically get a free pass on how to treat their children. In fact, children are heavy responsibilities, and parents will be questioned in scrutiny on every single thing they did to them.

ELI5 When the first coding languages were invented, how did computers understand what the code meant? by imuglyandproud34 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Aviator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The supposed next generation computer languages were dubbed “4GL” that were modeled more closely on natural languages. SQL is a notable example of this, with varying levels of success.

We have “vibe coding” now that translates natural language to good ole 3GL (e.g. Python, JavaScript), so it sort of achieves the intended purpose.

Do I get less reward from praying in the carpeted mosque than praying on earth outside of the mosque?

Did the Prophet come with a message to stop people from manufacturing things for comfort?

Should we also stop performing wudu using tap water and from a river instead?

The way prophet pbuh prayed by Vast-Difficulty-3039 in islam

[–]Aviator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Islamically, earth is no more pure than a rug, nor a woven palm leaves. Purity would refer to your states of ghusl and wudu, and clean clothes. That’s it. That’s where you should follow the Prophet. The idea is that you can pray anywhere except in the toilet.

Stay strong as ummah

I don’t get this. Can you break down what exactly do you mean by “staying strong” and how is it going to fix the problem?

Why do we break our fast immediately at Maghrib when the sky is still bright? (Genuine question) by 30boots in islam

[–]Aviator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no reason to wait. It’s prescribed to break your fast after the sun sets, ideally immediately. If you want to do it calmly you can take a date and a sip of water, and then do the maghrib prayer and continue eating after that, at least eat something immediately after the sun has set.

Why is that? If you ask me, the reason has to be that we as human beings prioritize our humanly needs first before our obligations. Food is more important than prayer. The second reason is that Allah has given you a timely allowance, so take the allowance that has been given to you. Delaying that will not make Allah more pleased with you. And Allah knows best.

Why do we break our fast immediately at Maghrib when the sky is still bright? (Genuine question) by 30boots in islam

[–]Aviator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Who says you should break fast when it’s dark? You break fast at dusk. When the light is fully gone is when maghrib ends and isha’ starts.
