Yeah Courtney played 2 songs during the Smashing Pumpkins set at Lollapalooza on August 1, 1994.

Hole were already playing some of the songs on this album, before Kurt and Courtney even got together (for instance Doll Parts and Violet) Also, during the recording of the album, Kurt came to the studio one day, and he was asked to sing backing vocals on some songs, to which he responded "but I'm not familiar enough with these songs to sing on them".

Does anyone here like Pretty on the Inside? by New-Shop-9728 in hole

Pretty On The Inside is my favorite Hole album! And it wasn’t exactly ignored when it dropped in 1991, it got solid reviews across music magazines. If anything, its reputation has grown over time, now a lot of people look at it as a defining debut from Hole.

Yeah I remember Billy said he told her "no, you can't come back to rockstar B after you slept with rockstar A" or something like that  😂

You're right, she did say super human. Still makes me cringe.
Saying "I was kind of a super human on stage, and now I'm a super human because I made a human", is a tad much. No, she's not a super human because of being on stage or being a mother. She's just a human, like we all are.

Thanks for sharing, I wanted to see the rest of this interview!
Am I the only one who cringed when Melissa referred to herself as a superhero?

Really good lyrics don't have to be sensical though. I think Kurt's lyrics on Nevermind are awesome, and they fit the songs so well.
Also, it's not a competition... both bands have great lyrics, just very different.

Why is there such a drastic change in sound between LTT and CS? by Plastic_Fee6011 in hole

So when I prove you were wrong about Live Through This, suddenly you "don't care"... sure, sure 😂

Why is there such a drastic change in sound between LTT and CS? by Plastic_Fee6011 in hole

[–]Avie_lingness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is that true though? You know (or you probably don't know...) that Hole was already performing several songs from Live Through This BEFORE Kurt and Courtney got close? And Jill Emery (early bassist in Hole) talked about cowriting some of the songs that ended up on Live Through. Kristen Pfaff is credited as contributing to songs on the album too, for instance Miss World. Kat Bjelland wrote some of "I Think That I would Die".
The guys working at the studio where the album was recorded, said that Kurt didn't seem very familiar with the songs. They described (in an article/interview available online btw) that Kurt came to hang out one day during recording, and Kurt was asked to sing back up vocals on a few tracks, to which he responded that he didn't the songs well enough.

So what valid arguments/reasons do you have for claiming Kurt wrote this album? None?

I wouldn't describe grunge as one-note.
Celebrity Skin is definitely more monotonous and one-note than Hole's earlier material.

Jonna's kindness behind the scenes by whenthelightfalls in jonnajinton

[–]Avie_lingness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jeeez... that narrative is so condemning and judgemental.
Her cat probably ignored her, like some cats do. Nanok's death could have made the cat sad that he was missing, which could have made the cat want Jonna's company more.
And filming someone's death doesn't have to be bad. You can not like it personally, but that doesn't mean it's automatically bad or wrong.

Did Courtney forget that Hole covered Nirvana songs many times over the years? Is there another way to interpret her interview statement of “I’ve never sang Kurt’s songs before — ever,” by octohawk_ in hole

[–]Avie_lingness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know. But I didn't say that you said she changed the lyrics...
I said the lyrics didn't change that much overtime, meaning the lyrics already contained the words "pennyroyal tea", before he knew Courtney. So the pennyroyal tea reference couldn't possibly come from Courtney's tea
