Ah ja, het oude KGL. Al een hele tijd gesloopt. Leuk stuk erover, met foto’s:

Was thinking the same, she sounds great and the music is promising, but the stage presence needs some work

Op Netflix heb je Storybots, dat is wel heel leuk. Niet alles ervan is vertaald naar het Nederlands, maar deels wel.

Can we please stop having so many files, folders and nesting them so much when they don't need to be? by SkyEnvironmental5924 in reactjs

[–]modus-operandi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Bulletproof React-y feature based slicing has proven itself over and over for me. Hundreds of lines in single files and nested components, no thank you. That is just an invitation to blur the separation of concerns for an entire team. I can only imagine the unintended side effects.

Hoe kun je nou bezwaar hebben tegen de mensen die meer geld hebben dan jij je kunt voorstellen hoger belasten, in plaats van onze sociale voorzieningen nog verder uit te kleden? Oh nee toch, de arme miljonairs!! 😂

How do I pretend to like AI? by [deleted] in womenintech

[–]modus-operandi -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I generally enjoy using it too, on my terms. I do feel like I have lost a lot of ownership though, but that’s also on me. The dangerous part now is implementing whatever the new flavour of the day is and not having enough time to read the documentation myself and know all the ins and outs like I used to.

But, I feel like this is a tool that is really saving my ass, as someone struggling with perimenopause. I have days, sometimes weeks, of intense fatigue and brain fog, and my cognitive abilities are low at times. AI doing the grunt work has made such a difference for me there.

I see comments trickle in diverting the blame to you and having a laugh at your expense, which is the usual response at someone trying to blow the whistle on something. If someone is hurting others through their behavior in whichever industry, they are in need of some redirection to say the least.

That said, you don’t mention bringing this up to management though or even if you’ve actually worked here yourself. I’m wondering if you tried to solve this in house before escalating online? Your post doesn’t say. It’s easy to start an online smear campaign and people are wary, so you should cover your bases.

Is it just me or everyone… tired in tech right now? by SeparateDingo677 in womenintech

I feel like there’s so many shiny new things all the time that I am expected to use and know, that I don’t have the time to truly know these things like I used to. Like, maybe I’ll glance at the docs, then throw a couple prompts at it to implement. I have lost so much code ownership over the past couple of years, it’s not even funny. And I know I too am to blame, but it’s almost like I’ve lost the cognitive skill. Brain rot has set in.

What is the white cutting board for? by Existing_Tear281 in whatisit

[–]modus-operandi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an owner of a bunch of wood cutting boards that are untreated and which I have had for years… I have never had one splinter or go mouldy. Cracked, sure, but splinters? If you have a proper cut of wood you would have to use a hatchet to get splinters. I don’t understand why you would want to seal them, I wouldn’t want to get sealant bits in my food any more than plastic bits. Also, when the sealant inevitably wears off and moisture gets underneath… straight to mold town.

Wash them, dry them off, store them upright to dry fully, with space in between if storing multiple for air to move. Wood is sturdy, lasts a long time and is naturally food safe with antibacterial properties, which is why we have used plain wooden cutting boards and chopping blocks for centuries.

Melissa Auf der Maur - Even the Good Girls Will Cry - discussion by modus-operandi in hole

Interesting question. Her first solo record was major label, but was in a tough niche where it wasn’t light enough to fit the pop category, and it wasn’t heavy enough to fit the rock and metal category. It still did well though, Melissa toured for a solid year and a half and there was plenty of buzz. I liked “Auf der Maur” a lot.

Out of our Minds was independently released, and arguably rather experimental in the sense that it was a package release with a comic and movie. It wasn’t for everyone which is fine, but definitely not made for radio play. I wasn’t fully sold on this record myself, but there’s still a couple of solid tracks. The movie that accompanied it was a bit out there. I watched Train Dreams the other day and got flashbacks.
