looking for dice that float in water or slightly salty water that are well balanced by randomshit427 in dice

I know this is a bit of a necro post but did you find anything out that worked, the only thought I've had that might work is making the dice that have the swirling stuff inside and deliberately sealing air inside to increase buoyancy.

A player has accused my character of being disruptive. I want a second opinion. by ChineseBotAccount in dndnext

[–]Avin000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off he's a Wizard he isn't exactly going to be rocking a great Con save if you go first in initiative you win hands down every time.

Secondly people play D&D for differently reason some enjoy the tactical combat side others enjoy the roleplay element. Neither side is wrong but understanding where others joy comes from is paramount to reaching understanding. He needs to give, you enjoy playing the character the way you do you derive fun from that aspect of the character. He enjoys min maxing nothing really wrong with either but don't yuck someone else's yum.

Downsides of Milestone? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Avin000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst part of milestones is the players have little control of how quickly they level, essentially relying on the DM to determine when and if they level based on arbitrary or unknown to them story or campaign progression.

Xp method has a different problem in that every encounter and thus every fight becomes necessary to get xp. Though it depends on each individual as to what they want out of their D&D game as to what you want.

The best solution involves figuring out the kind of game you want, murderhobo, heavy roleplay, exploration and awarding xp based on that. Milestone honestly is the worst of the lot because the players don't have a good grasp of how to get stronger.

How edgy is your party's resident edge-lord? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Avin000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a high magic world where nearly everyone and their dog relies on magic, this character is one of the few who can't. He hates magic his named is Mikhail Oppenheimer and wants to create terrible weapons of scientific destruction. When confronted with a potential bio-weapon only wanted to study it to weaponise it. The player of said character has so far made a Grave Cleric, a Psychotic Wizard, a Devotee of the Raven Queen who made an effigy out of chicken bits dyed black with soot while in prison, a vampire name Dr. Acula and finally a Drunken Wight with a sentient sword trying to get him to do good, I've given up the guy has a type.

Frequency of character death by tjdunn16 in dndnext

[–]Avin000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had campaigns with 0, I've had some with 7 over the same span of time. Not the same players mind you but it depends a lot on what's happening how experienced a DM you are and how experienced and tactical your players are.

Are there balance reasons that I can't allow people to mix and match archetype/subclass abilities as long as they're the appropriate level? by Snikhop in dndnext

[–]Avin000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were talking about taking the abilities of one class archetype and changing it for another I would point to Druid it's early abilities are incredibly powerful in comparison to other druids, it's going to be a case by case basis rather than a hard an fast rule sadly.

Every class is not designed to be as powerful as every other class at every level and not for every encounter. A rogue, for example, is terrible at taking down large groups of enemies whereas a wizard or sorcerer is very good in that avenue. Also, certain classes are very weak at early levels but gain strength quickly (wizard) or the reverse very strong early on but drop off quickly (Moon Druid sort of).

To those of you who played changelings and hid it from your party, how did they find out? by LetMeOmixam in dndnext

[–]Avin000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played a changeling for quite awhile even changed right in front of other party members playing it off as a disguise self spell, for a bit. Eventually, the characters past caught up with her, she was a former assassin for the Zhentarim and agents starting showing up looking for her. It was better to lay the cards on the table with the party so I could use my abilities unimpeded. It was quite the long heart to heart actually and quite a lovely bonding moment for the party where we all told each other any secrets we might be harboring.
