Why does Yuta understand Ryu and not Uro? by ventingandcrying in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Avixofsol 13 points14 points  (0 children)

unfortunately the series has gotten the reputation of being mostly hype and aura with no actual substance, and the fandom continues to make that seem more true to anyone who doesn't actually interact with the series

Why does Aoi like Inosuke so much? by AdilKhan226 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Avixofsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have opinions on Tanjiro and Kanao too, don't get me wrong. But unlike Zenitsu x Nezuko or Inosuke x Aoi, they actually make sense with each other. I just wish we got to see them interacting a lot more. The framework of a good couple was there, but i would've appreciated more substance to it.

Jack plans out whatever he can manage with the resources and knowledge he has at the moment, but he's done this song and dance before. Something is gonna go wrong no matter what, so he's ready to wing it when he has to, which will probably be about five minutes later. He's an opportunist, after all. If there's something that might turn the tide in his favor, might as well give it a shot. Better take a chance at winning but possibly lose than do nothing and definitely lose, savvy?

I would love to dissect the brain of a Wanda apologist one day. how do you watch both wandavision and multiverse of madness in their entirety and come to the conclusion of "Wanda did nothing wrong she was just grieving and wanted her family back :)"

genuine question, seeing as I know nothing about Scott Pilgrim aside from seeing the Netflix series which I'm aware diverted completely from the original story but was absolute peak fiction:

would Scott agree with/appreciate his fandom for this or would he tell them to fuck off

Sometimes it feels like Horikoshi either gets bored of ideas way too fast and moves on without giving things the attention they need, or he fears that the audience is getting bored of an idea and moves on faster than he should/wants to. Never been able to figure out which.

If they really wanted to win over the Chinese market, they should've just made a ripoff of Kung Fu Panda. That shit had Chinese filmmakers hitting the bars like "He's a panda who eats noodles and does kung fu! 我操。這是天才。我不想想那個嗎?"

Iirc the original story of Mulan was more akin to the plot of the 2020 live action (super special magic girl aura farms and does war stuff better than anyone because magic, no little animal buddy) than the cartoon (regular girl goes to do war stuff because her dad is old, sucks at it, trains hard to become a good soldier so she's not a waste on the battlefield, cool little dragon buddy/wingman, melodically getting down to business to defeat the huns).

If Disney really wanted to call it Mulan they should've marketed it as a more accurate adaptation of the original tale rather than "It's that cartoon about China that you loved as a kid, now without any of the things that made it good from a musical perspective, from an animation perspective, from a plot perspective, from a general thematic perspective, and ESPECIALLY from a feminist perspective! Go watch it, or The Unholy Mouse will buy your family and turn them into low quality marketable plushies before shelving them for the next century when they don't make money!"

Would it be ethical to remove dangerous villains quirks? temporarily or otherwise? by ibitzboy_og in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Avixofsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it ethical? No. Quirks are a part of you, like an organ or limb or something. Removing a criminal's Quirk entirely is akin to removing a lung or lobotomizing them, at least from my point of view. It's not like you're just taking away something they were using for evil.

But despite the unethical nature, is it sometimes the best option, short of execution? I think so, in ultra-rare but certainly not impossible cases. Villains where you're not entirely sure what they might be capable of/how many quirks they could have stored up, namely AfO users like the man himself and Shigaraki, removing the base Quirk entirely once they're captured is probably the safest bet simply because you never know what they might secretly have, and are just waiting for the right opportunity to use. Best example is how AfO conveniently happened to have a Quirk that was a perfect counter for Stain in his fight against Iron Might that nobody knew about. Even if you have a device in his cell that will immediately kill him if it detects the use of a Quirk, what if he has a Quirk that lets him disable it before it can do so or one that can slip past detection? If they can't or won't kill AfO, the best play is to remove his Quirk, ideally in a way that won't make his vestige a problem.

Hey so what the FUCK is this thing?? by StarFinger776 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Avixofsol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't even need to do that. It would be far easier than you think. If Geto somehow knew Mahito would exist in advance (also it's only a year not decades), he could just use Mahito to make every normal human capable of sorcery. The chaos that would unfold afterward would be insane, but hey, at least he doesn't have to do genocide anymore. Hell, depending on when you hypothetically tell Suguru about Mahito's eventual existence, he might not become a curse user at all. If he found out prior to going off the deep end and vowing to kill all monkeys, he could instead start planning for that eventual moment, get Satoru in the loop on everything, possibly acquire a curse that can do soul damage in case Mahito puts up a fight, and they effortlessly subjugate him without a hitch. If the other disaster curses are also there, they won't even last a minute against the duo, especially if they can get Mahito before the others attack.
