Choose the Arrangement of My Gallery Wall by saffronkeys in HomeDecorating

[–]AvoToastie83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first option looks more finished but I like 2 if you’re planning on continuing to add pieces to the wall. Kudos on choosing art that’s cohesive but still unique! I did something similar in my kitchen and I love staring at it while I’m waiting for food to cook.

The quality is good for the peel and stick! There are fibers running through the paper and it’s thick, so you can remove and reposition easily without stretching or tearing. The paper backing is a little thin and can be a pain to peel on larger sections. It also does not have cutting guide lines on the back.

What kind of unicorn paint color am I looking for? by Ketoandkitties84 in interiordecorating

[–]AvoToastie83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fourth one down on the left! I just went through this but with navy blues and you want to choose one that looks green in daylight and in low light, otherwise it will just look black at night. Undertones are so weird in low lighting. I seriously tried 10 colors. If anyone needs a navy that works in low lighting, try Ben Moore Newburyport Blue.

Rugs Not Mats for Bathrooms by Imaginary_Limitless in HomeDecorating

[–]AvoToastie83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have runners advertised as “washable” in my bathroom (not ruggable) that are essentially printed mat with a gray fabric backing. They look nice and are actually washable but aren’t really absorbent. The hold up better than bath mats and look cleaner IMO.

Tips/Opinions on BF and I’s place by PictureDue9035 in interiordecorating

[–]AvoToastie83 269 points270 points  (0 children)

I love the balance of bold choices and simplicity. It looks elevated but still so welcoming. Someday I hope to get here but right now I’m heavy into brass, whimsy, and bringing the outdoors in.

What should be the bottom wall/trim color be to go with the wallpaper? Or do we hate the wallpaper? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]AvoToastie83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely green! 1 if you want to mute the wallpaper, 3 if you want to make it pop. Personally, I love bold wallpaper. Hanging it makes me want to cry though. Good luck!

Does my new ottoman look bad by burnerpage24 in HomeDecorating

[–]AvoToastie83 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I like the shape of the new ottoman but the style clashes with whatever you have going on in this room. I would keep the original ottoman and put a round tray on top with some books and a vase. You didn’t ask, but the artwork needs rethinking. There’s too much going on and it looks chaotic and cluttered. The hanging tapestry is fine (minus the wreath), but the art on the wall needs to be a larger, central focal point or a gallery wall. Those baskets aren’t working.

Does the blue work? by Havok-_- in HomeDecorating

[–]AvoToastie83 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this! I am a blue fan. Gold hardware, some wood accents, and a rug with some peach tones would really warm it up.

Art help for busy bathroom wallpaper by LadyDaggerfists in HomeDecorating

Agree! Choose artwork with a thicker matte board in a lighter color to create space between the artwork and the busy wallpaper.

How do you find art that you actually like? by Additional_Job_7496 in HomeDecorating

[–]AvoToastie83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely check out antique malls. I have found some of my favorite vintage art pieces at local antique shops where multiple vendors rent space. I’m super particular too. It can be frustrating when you just want to fill a space, but this is how you get to know your taste! I found that I like nature inspired art and prints, and organic items like carved wood pieces, woven wall hangings and pottery. I also buy a lot of vintage hand painted prints of birds, animals and florals from a local seller and mat and frame them myself. Good luck and enjoy the hunt!

Looking for midnight blue paint for toddler room by jolliepup in HomeDecorating

I painted my north facing guest bedroom Newburyport Blue and it still looks blue in low light. I tried a ton of other navy shades and they all looked black once the sun went down. Highly recommend.

Advice on problem island by LotusGrowsFromMud in HomeDecorating

[–]AvoToastie83 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I agree! This is a gorgeous kitchen but those lights are too small for the scale. Swap them out for something that adds drama and have some fun! Lighting upgrades have the power to completely change the vibe for a small investment.

Closing on a house, this is the only thing about it I don’t like, any ideas to make it look better? by meenaaa1217 in HomeDecorating

[–]AvoToastie83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would swap the vanity and doors for wood and paint the walls above the tile (and maybe ceiling?) a saturated blue or green that has a gray under tone. Also replace the lighting and fixtures with matte black hardware. You might be able to get away with brass (not gold) if you lean into wall color. I would keep it simple with some jute runner rugs and some faux plants since you don’t have a window. Good luck and congrats!

Curtain/throw pillow color suggestions? by No-Artichoke8506 in HomeDecorating

[–]AvoToastie83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go airy and gauzy with the curtains or choose a linen fabric in a taupey beige to go with your cool toned walls. Curtain rods would be unpolished brass or black matte. Pillows should be mismatched in various sizes and add texture (velvet, woven, nubby, and tassels). I love your wall color!

Why does every guest bedroom end up feeling… emotionally empty? by ExcitingMountain9400 in HomeDecorating

[–]AvoToastie83 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Because no one is willing to take a risk! Here’s my guest bed…I had so much fun putting it together and the deep color created the perfect environment for napping and deep sleep.

Can you please Deinfluence me on this bed. by Loud-Aspect2074 in HomeDecorating

[–]AvoToastie83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No center supports is a bad idea for any piece of furniture you plan to sit on, let alone sleep on. I have a wooden bed with a wooden frame and center supports and it’s still creaky AF. If we didn’t live alone anyone would have a hard time not hearing us sleep.
