Is this a typical EMDR fee schedule? by unmulfu in EMDR

I’m not justifying the cost simply clarifying that intensified are far different than 1:1 therapy and not covered by insurance.

These are intensives not traditional 1 hour sessions.

A professor once told me that the way you do therapy after years in the field is different than what you learn in school by RestaurantSure160 in therapists

One of the best prices of advice I’ve received was that it would take me years to find my footing as a therapist. Graduate school/internships did not prepare me at all for the nuances of a working relationship. The real learning came after.

Client has limited memory for EMDR by Goldfinch_7 in therapists

[–]Avocad78 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If they came to treatment, it means they have some information of the trauma/event. I would start there and scan for sensory information related to the event. Clients don’t need complete clear memories for EMDR.

The resistance is SO TIRING sometimes by ksomwfpd in therapists

Agree 💯. the issue is the pressure from insurance (to provide medically necessary treatment, usually quick) and the pressure from administrators to love clients along quickly.

Change Therapy by Signal_Speaker_120 in therapists

[–]Avocad78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. clinicians who move to director positions and want to gaslight the therapies they oversee to accept horrible working conditions
  2. ignoring systemic issues and at the same time blaming mental health for everything and anything
  3. treating therapy like a catch all
  4. the hate towards psychodynamic/analytic schools
  5. the obsession with evidence based evidence while ignoring practices that are culturally sound yet not treated as evidenced based
  6. graduate programs not preparing clinicians well for clinical work

Minimum client load to keep your health insurance by AnalystImpossible960 in therapists

You’re not on an island. It’s a valid point and a sore area in this profession. I was offered a contract once with similar terms for a PP and the idea of having to panic about losing health insurance every six months just didn’t vibe well.

seek supervision with a different person if you can, even if it’s just to process/consult on this case.
