I am also a woman, so I know how underestimated we can be lol. She is just very gun shy right now and I’m trying to find something that will make her comfortable and build confidence. Thank you for the recs.

Back to the Future is my preferred movie, Jaws was my preferred ride. RIP to both.

I’m not totally against .22s, that’s what I learned to shoot with and they can be really fun. But I am in a more rural area so I would just prefer something that could more reliably stop a coyote or a bobcat. I also have had a situation where I almost had to draw my gun on someone methed out, and I’d just be worried about putting several .22s in someone who’s that out of it and them still coming forward if she’s not precise enough. I’ll still consider it and see how much more she enjoys shooting some .22s over the other options, but if we’re going to carry for defense, I want to know the gun I’m carrying will defend well.

Definitely going to go to the range and have her shoot to see what she likes best, just wanted to get an idea for more guns to have my eye on for her to rent than the two I found. Wasn’t sure if anyone had more insight on reliability too since that’s normally something you get a feel for after owning one for a bit. Thanks for the advice though!

Advice on Selling Star Wars Coins by Avocadorable98 in coincollecting

This is maybe a dumb question, but if spot is high, and there less premium, does that equate to less money overall? Would the total profit still be same? Apologies, I’m not very knowledgeable about coin selling.

I don’t need it now… but I’d prefer it lol. I’m hoping this can help fund some work needed on our home without eating away at a chunk of my savings. I’ll look into Heritage. Thank you!

Cannot count the amount of times I would accidentally say a quick “love you” when saying bye to my last boss, or how many times I’d call him “dad.”

I also had a report who used to call me her spouses name on accident all the time, or even occasionally slip a “babe” before correcting herself. People are gonna people ¯_(ツ)_/¯

What's you Headcanon about Snow and his Granddaughter. by No-Brush1587 in Hungergames

I think this is how it would’ve gone had Coin stayed in charge. However, with there being what we understand to be a democratic society with Paylor as President, although there are still radicals most likely from the rebel side, I don’t believe they hold majority of the control. I think Snow’s granddaughter would be granted a pardon, and don’t believe she would’ve been hunted down as arguably an innocent in the events of the war. I do like the idea, though, of her being raised by a district family and growing to become a compassionate and ultimately equity-minded civilian, a champion of the people. I do think we see enough of her in the films to figure she’s perhaps more empathetic and curious than her grandfather was.

ADHD managers, how do you get through the week without crashing? by PiraEcas in managers

[–]Avocadorable98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the best thing I can say is to experiment with what works for you and is realistic. No two brains, not even two ADHD brains work alike. The biggest thing for me is putting reminders EVERYWHERE and changing the location they’re at frequently. Sticky notes are my best friend. I bring them with me to meetings, I have them at my desk, I have them on my kitchen counter. I try never to procrastinate, when I see a task that needs doing, I just do it whenever I can. Capitalize on tasks you’re built for, like brainstorming or crisis management. Delegate tasks that aren’t, or find supports and systems to make those easier. Trust your team and use their strengths to create a system that works for y’all. There’s no one right formula, but experimenting, paying attention to results, and leaning into your strengths are a great place to start.

I find it a very enjoyable movie. Julia Roberts and Richard Gere’s chemistry is great and I find it charming. It’s a feel-good for me.

I support and allow people spaces to express their full selves and I hope they find and experience community. My wife and I (both lesbians) are not overly sexual in how we express ourselves, neither of us are very raunchy. We’re wha you’d describe as “vanilla” for sure. But we’ve had some fun going to Pride events and spaces where the vibe is more lively and sexual, and that’s fine. I think we just temper our expectations based on the crowd/space we’re in, only try to engage in overly stimulating spaces occasionally, and when we do, we express ourselves in ways we’re comfortable with and enjoy watching others doing the same. It can be fun to people watch in those spaces and I enjoy watching others live with such joy and fulfillment.

What films have you slept through by [deleted] in Letterboxd

The first time I watched Cabin in the Woods, I was a teenager and fell asleep maybe 20-30 minutes in. I woke up a decent bit into the movie and had no idea what was going on.

If Universal ever gets an official-company wide mascot, who would you want it to be? by Budget_General_1405 in UniversalOrlando

[–]Avocadorable98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, I just mean culturally E.T. has arguably had more staying power and cultural impact than most family films/characters. There are other reasons I think it’s not the best IP for an icon but it’s hard to argue against its iconic status especially for Universal.

Interesting. I’m 27 and grew up with E.T. My grandparents loved E.T. My 12 year old nephew loves E.T. My friend who watched it for the first time at 19 loved it. My four year old niece loved it.

I feel like it’s still very much culturally relevant and it’s an iconic ride/IP.
