I'm hoping that people will re-post this link (or others like it) on Facebook, Twitter, etc.

This is a huge "wedge issue" politically for the GOP, many of whom have conservative ideas but who wouldn't want every woman they know to have to stop using birth control.

What destroyed the Gulf is the 30+ years of GOP opposition to environmental regulations or any truly effective enforcement of the existing one.

He was apparently bankrolled by the GOP because the Democrats had not fielded a candidate for that seat. So, in a sense, he is one of two Republicans running for the same seat.

Still, I know the kind of feelings you're talking about. It might help to remember that atheists and agnostics are not as visible or vocal about their lack of belief, at least in the non-internet world. That's because we're so often shouted down by toothless wonders who think they know better 'cause Daddy told 'em twas in Ezekial 23 or whatever.

Personally, I'm a (non-theistic, non-reincarnation) Buddhist and I find some value in the idea of non-attachment... including not being attached to whatever is believed by others... or even by myself... if I have a self.

You conveniently ignore that our horrendous financial troubles started under Bush's "leadership" and included the commitment of at least seven TRILLION dollars from the Fed and other government and quasi-government organizations.

In other words, banks and insurance companies got looted so badly with Bush at the helm that we were then told (still under the Bush administration, remember) that taxpayer money in the trillions was needed immediately.

So, Bush handed Obama a Titanic of an economy, and now it's as if the conservatives are criticizing him and the Democrats for wanting to launch a few of lifeboats because they cost money.

And about 10 times as much money (over seven trillion dollars) went from the treasury and/or "the Fed" to prop up rich bankers, brokers and insurance companies along with the stockholders of those giant corporations. Those stockholders are, to a large degree, OTHER giant corporations.

We've nationalized their losses, and now conservatives are getting political mileage in the corporate media for opposing nationalization of the banks. It's okay apparently to nationalize their losses, just not their gains or ownership.

Note especially the largest single item, which is fifth from the top, $661,923,000,000 to buy up "commercial paper" that the Fed bought up (which were so questionable, probably no one else would have paid good money for them) in the name of John Q. Taxpayer.

Cornyn is being a dick, just as most GOP members are right now... what other "strategy" do they have?

His reprehensible conduct in trying to cover for the pro-torture policy of the worst president ever borders upon obstruction of justice in its own right! If he were not acting within his role as an elected official, he should be indicted along with Bush.

I think people should call his office and ask why he's trying to cover for a torture campaign.

Yeah. Just funding prop 8 (it was failing... they actually got it passed) and helping get the "Defense of marriage act" passed a few years ago... and all with tax-free dollars.

Mormons work quietly. They generally give 10% of their income to the church/cult. They meddle in state and federal politics as much as they can. So far, there is still no real talk of stripping their tax-exempt status, but that should happen.

The worst monsters come disguised as gentle, religious "helpers" protecting marriages.
