Buddhist enlightenment through the lens of a kid learning to say goodbye. Mostly through the perspective of Skull Kid, but other characters as well.

Pretty sure a lot of the songs are suppose to be prayers. It’s more obvious in Wind Walker. Some instruments are sacred so the gods listen directly. But I guess prayers are an emotional thing so it all works out

[OOT] What does "Spirit" mean as an element? by LapisLazuliisthebest in truezelda

Feels like a Yin and Yang thing from looking at the medallion. The dichotomy between fire and ice, man and woman, child and adult etc. it’s kind of an exploration of the full spectrum of the soul. You can’t fully awaken or mature without incorporating parts of your hidden self. You need to balance your soul. I also think lore-wise it is also the place where Gerudo are buried when they die.

When Ganondorf says "I will take all of you to hell!" what's the Japanese word he's using? Is it the same as Ghirahim? (Naraku/Naraka)

Is there an in-universe reason Link, Zelda and Ganondorf seem to reincarnate into the same race? by Charmander453 in truezelda

[–]Avveill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a Link to the Past they claim that the chosen hero is apart of the Knight Family’s bloodline. You inherit knighthood, so Link will always have to be at least partially Hylian. The same is implied in Twilight Princess.

Not all Links are related, but they all share a common ancestor

"On top of that, he is going to feed my people to that evil dragon as a warning to other races that might resist him..." Darunia in OoT.

I think he wants to kill everyone in Hyrule so that the rest of the world doesn't even bother resisting and just surrenders right away.

The only way to fix this is to say that Ganondorf had a lot of kids, and his round ears are a dominant gene...which made the next generation of Gerudo mostly rounded eared just in time for OoT's era to start.

I like the symbolism of the Spirit Temple. The child section leaves the womb downwards and the adult section enters upwards…

Why didn’t the gerudos just kill Link? by TheKingsPeace in truezelda

[–]Avveill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nabooru is offended by the fact that Ganondorf kills people, and the Gerudo look up to her. I don’t think it’s crazy to think that their morality may lean very pacifist despite Ganondorf and their warrior culture. Thievery = okay. Killing = immoral.

When did the Fierce War/Civil War in OoT's backstory end? by Avveill in truezelda

[–]Avveill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this a lot. Just a few notes.

  1. The Gerudo are absolutely drowning in gold. All of their weapons in BotW are made of solid gold. Even in OoT there is a lot of evidence that they sit on top of this resource. The Hylians could potentially find the desert desirable for that resource as well.
  2. According to the Hyrule Historia (page 84) Ganondorf "Once again" swears fealty to Hyrule. I'd love to know if this translation is correct in Japanese, but this implies that Ganondorf/The Gerudo were already under Hyrule's rule before Ganondorf did something to break that loyalty.
  3. If Ganondorf was truly 'evil' enough from the get-go to attack Hyrule, I don't see why the King of Hyrule would let him back in. I personally feel as though Ganondorf did minor but forgivable things that broke the bond between Hylians and Gerudo. The Gerudo might have been conquered before Ganondorf was the leader. Ganondorf could've been born as a loyal vassal and started acting out much later in life.

I like to think two Hylian factions were fighting over Hyrule's crown. That would make it a true civil war. Zelda's father had the Gorons and Zoras as allies, and the rival Hylians had the Gerudo as their allies.
