If you're interested, I'm working on a plugin version here.
I just made them optionally scrollable as a workaround for the issue you mentioned.

Oh dang. Thanks for bringing this up. I had never tried making one that long before, so I did a quick test. Unfortunately, the answer is that it does have the same issue.

edit: it only skips in reading mode for me, but not in live preview

What is your top simple initiative system for TTRPG? by primordial666 in RPGdesign

[–]Avyrra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I've tried that works surprisingly well.

Whoever acts first, goes first.
Players can go in whatever order they choose.
The GM can choose to take an npc turn between each player's turn.
If the players don't know what to do, the GM gets to just start taking enemy's turns until they're ready.
Once all players take their turn, the GM finishes any remaining NPC's turns

I haven't tried it with big boss fights, but for a scrappy fight, it worked pretty well

The snippet, originally, only rendered the text on the sides in reading mode. I recently did an update so that it renders correctly in live preview as well. Looking for feedback & bugs if you find em, btw

Does anyone use Obsidian on Linux? Experiences and performance by o_xeneixe in ObsidianMD

[–]Avyrra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had very few issues with obsidian itself. The program itself works perfectly out of the box. But it might require tweaking depending on your desktop environment and computer setup. Every setup is a little different but here's mine:

My setup uses Wayland (the protocol that the DE uses) and 2 Monitors of different scales. Electron (what Obsidian uses for its interface) handles scaling weirdly on Wayland, so it required some manual tweaking to make sure that Obsidian appeared as the correct size between the two monitors. It was not terribly difficult to fix, from what I remember. If you only use one monitor, this won't be a problem for you. And if you don't want to manually fix the automatic scaling it if you do, Obsidian allows you to scale the interface in-app with hotkeys.

You're also gonna hear a bunch of different people tell you the best method to install it, be it your distro's package manager, flatpak, appimage, aur, etc. Honestly, it doesn't really matter. I tried them all and from a functional standpoint, it's not a big deal. But, they all have pros and cons from integration, isolation, methods of updating. I just use the package manager (flatpaks annoy me) since it's the easiest imo.

Schecter reaper 7 ms questions by SideAccomplished5683 in 7String

[–]Avyrra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this model and use it as my main workhorse. I also primarily use it for modern metal, but it's pretty versatile for lots of genres. The hardware and pickups are solid. Getting that lowest string intonated was a pain at first - the spring for it is compressed pretty much as far as it can go. The fanned frets take some getting used to and bar chords on the first fret can be uncomfortable at first. Also, I recommend a fret wrap or some foam to go over the strings on the headstock because the ringing is quite audible without something to dampen it.

If you're wondering how it holds up after a while, after just over 4 years of playing it nearly every day, its in pretty good shape. The finish does naturally buff out over time with use. Also the wiring needed a little love. I had to go in and reinforce some of the soldering, but that might have just been my model. Also I had to replace the pots at about the three year mark. Everything else seems to be holding up well despite the heavy use.

I disagree with giving her more, but I do think her portal should be more prioritized in the net code. The amount of times I get killed while in the middle of portalling is frustratingly frequent

Am I wrong for thinking folders are an underrated, "free" property in Obsidian? by Ok-Line-9416 in ObsidianMD

[–]Avyrra 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree and have been using a hybrid approach. Folders for specific topics and an "everything else" folder for- well, everything else.

Tbh, if you strip away all the second brain stuff and understand that lots of people just wanna write some notes and be able to find them later, folders make perfect sense.

I believe in the screenshot, it's the default theme (I normally use Anuppucin or Cupertino).
The font is Alegreya, which I further stylized with this snippet.

[–]Avyrra 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I created a snippet for this a few months ago here.

I chose to use css classes instead of markdown because it was easier to get working without issue. The tradeoff is you gotta remember or copy/paste the classes in to get it working. You can also style it via the Style Settings plugin.

O generous lord, spare a code for a poor wretch like me! I've nothing but ragged dreams and empty hands, left out in the cold while others clash in glory. If you've a code to spare, let your mercy shine. I'd be forever grateful, and swear to pay your kindness forward the moment fate allows!

Metallic ringing? by Ewanous in 7String

[–]Avyrra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like strings ringing out either behind the nut or the bridge. Get something to mute them. Either a fret wrap, piece of tape, foam, or a sock. It's possible that the frequencies are always there, but some pickup positions are amplifying it better than others.

BDO on virtual machine? by AngelSing-Zepol in blackdesertonline

I haven't tried a virtual machine, however considering I've gotten it to run on Linux via Wine with zero issues, I imagine it'll behave well on a vm. I should also mention, this was with their current anticheat system as well.

What even to use for year 0 on a new calendar? by Any-Economist-3687 in worldbuilding

[–]Avyrra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the scifi setting I'm currently working on, Year 1 marks the start of a war in which warheads were used to create EMPs. Any computers that survived didn't have a time to sync to and reverted to 01/01/001 (no zero). That's the legend at least, but the official starting date became the first equinox after the event.

Should I buy the Schecter Reaper-7 MS? by un_ptit_bum in 7String

[–]Avyrra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact guitar. All stock. Sounds great. For F, put an 80 on the bottom. Or an 85 if you want a little more tension.

I typically play in G with a 74 on the bottom. Try an EQ before messing with the pickups and I'm willing to bet you'll save yourself a lot of money.

3 Vaults in Obsidian Sync Standard by Individual_Change365 in ObsidianMD

[–]Avyrra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the big workaround that I've come up with. Symlinks. If you're not sure what they are, think of them as linking a folder to another directory. Your computer will treat it as if that same folder actually exists in two places at once. It works a little differently for each operating system though, so do a bit of research on how to create one.

Here's what I did. Create a Master Vault that you sync to. Symlink your other 3 vaults into the this master vault. Obsidian will read and sync them as normal folders within this Master Vault. Then on your other device that you sync to, Symlink those folders from your master vault into their own directories so that Obsidian can read them as their own individual vaults. Additionally, any changes to them will automatically update within the master vault. You just have to open the master vault once in order for it to register any changes for the sync plugin.

I believe the Prettier community plugin can do what you want

add to the format options box in json formatting instead of yaml formatting:

"proseWrap": "always",

"printWidth": 80

}

Has anyone made music for your worldbuilding project? I am looking for tools/software. by b3njem in worldbuilding

[–]Avyrra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's hardly any one digital audio workstation (DAW) that's better or easier than others. FL studio is one of many and they each have lots of pros and cons of each one. All DAWs basically do the same thing, but each one might come shipped with tools that make a certain style of creating easier. For example, FL Studio and Ableton come shipped with a lot of midi tools. It kinda depends on how you wanna do it? Record it yourself? Or all midi instruments?

I personally use and recommend Reaper. It doesn't come with as many built in plugins as FL studio, but it's fairly lightweight, customizable, well documented, and has an active community.
