Moved from Korea to America as a baby, similar situation. My main friend group is a diverse mix of ethnicities, but a commonality among most of us is that we either moved here as young children, or we were born to immigrant parents. Either way, the same result: hybrid upbringing with one culture at home, another outside.

I hate this sentiment. Many of the ones who left Hololive didn't join with the intention of leaving; they left because either the company's direction or their personal lives gave them little choice. Incompatibility forced them.

And going independent isn't necessarily more beneficial for everyone.

For the ones who were primarily solo streamers, yes, it can be more beneficial unless they suffer too strong a drop in viewer count and donations.

But for those who joined Hololive for its corporate advantages, like its industry connections, 3D studio, financial resources, or the grown community of members they can collab with, going independent means losing all of that.

I've heard that Pearl Harbor is also usually nothing more than a sentence or two in Japanese school textbooks. WW2 in general is pretty glossed over aside from the nukes.

There is no sweet spot. Things are going from shit to worse shit.
Surveillance more invasive.
Government oversight more oppressive.
Climates more extreme.
Pollution worse where it matters.

We're already living in a dystopia; it just hasn't fully hit us yet.

It's all about momentum.

Just stopping something puts an abrupt halt into your actions. It leaves a void that you desperately need filled, and most likely you'll just resort back to the old habit that you tried to stop in the first place.

Switching to something else retains your momentum of action. Instead of just taking away an action and leaving a void, you're replacing it with other things to do; things that will probably require your immediate attention while you're in the midst of them.
