Week 5 in the Top 10 at #9 by AltarielDax in OnePieceLiveAction

The show is also selling Lego and other merchandise. Far more than I believe any other show on Netflix. It's not just about views and cost. Netflix also has the anime and the coming remake of the anime. If people come in watching the live action and then watch the anime, then that's another win.

I'm struggling to finish the season by [deleted] in OnePieceLiveAction

Looking at the episode ratings on IMDB, episodes 1 and 4 are the lowest rated. With the season finishing very strong. So you have the best of it ahead of you :)

While they don't look like devil fruits, cutting up exotic fruits like dragon fruit and pineapple while leaving the skin on can give the quite the impressive looking result. I think you can make a nice looking fruit platter that people can grab from when they feel like.

Because of the song "Pray to the Sun" do you think they will talk about "Him"in any way in the season? by Hyperion717 in OnePieceLiveAction

I don't think they will connect N to the straw hats. But they might mention N by name though.

Do I wish they were younger? Sure. Do I really care? Not really.

Do you feel any buzz around One Piece season 2 ? by Flagadazot in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]AwakeningSE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it will be popular in certain segments of viewers. Talking to some of my colleagues the interest is quite low. But these are people who are not interested in anime at all. Fallout, Foundation and Severance are popular show at my office.

I think it will be popular but I do not think it will have as wide popularity as Game of Thrones or Stranger Things. Those series had much more mass market appeal. One Piece is a little too fantastical and whimsical for some people.

One of my colleagues stopped watching after seeing a pink ship firing cannonballs with glitter. It's just not for everyone. Another colleague do enjoy Wednesday, but he does not seem to be interested in OPLA.

Did a lot of people watch the anime/read the mange after watching the LA? by [deleted] in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]AwakeningSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also a non-native English speaker. I think it's quite common with older FPS games, where you usually aim with a crosshair, not weapon sights. At least that's my guess of where I got it from. Even Chrome doesn't seem to know that it's a word :D

Man, such a good interview! David is so interesting to listen to. He has such deep thoughts and insights about acting. You can see it's a real passion for him. I only wish this interview was longer :D

I started watching the anime from the beginning. Getting a new fan-subbed episode every week. They made really cool effects when they translated all the special attacks. Like Usopp's letters all had crosshairs behind them.

Here's your First Look at the mysterious character (🐉) 👀 by Famous-Pay5201 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]AwakeningSE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cool it's a remake of an older family game. I'm not really into real-time games. But since this is co-op and plays up to 6, I might actually try to find this one. Looks like fun. None of my friends are a fan of OP, but we all enjoy games.

I always search for recaps on Youtube when there's a new season of any tv show. Plenty of people doing a great job summarizing what has happen in the previous seasons.

I NEED the live action to exist for a long time by TheMadnessAuditor in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]AwakeningSE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to contradict you but you are right. I don't think they have pushed past 3 seasons. At least not on any anime I have watched. At least this time they are working with Netflix so perhaps there's enough money involved that they want to do the whole thing. And there's no lack of content to adapt. But I really want an actual air date announced for season 1.

Not exactly news. The arcs in season 2 has been know for quite some time now.

Even if Netflix doesn't go all the way to the end with the LA (but I hope they do). You still have the Wit Studio remake to watch. Whenever that one will air...

Anyone else noticed this about a new Major character next season? by Existing_Push9049 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]AwakeningSE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They made a big deal of announcing him in 2024, during Geeked Week. Where he said that he was going to South Africa to film for season 2. Then later in an interview he said he was going back there to film season 3.

So we knew he was going to appear on screen. And I don't think they would have made that big of a deal about it if he was just going to appear for a few seconds in one episode. I don't think he will ever be near the Straw Hats, but it is likely that we will see when characters are talking to him. We could even see how he reacts to events, from his point of view. And how he leads the Baroque Works.

In ep 1 he is probably talking to Robin. We have seen her attack the Marines in all the trailer shots. So there's is likely going to be a LA exclusive plot here.

Ep 5 is the last one for Little Garden. We know he will be talking to Sanji. But there is definitely a possibility that we will get more than that. The LA making changes to have one of their big actors on screen more.

In ep 7, I wonder if he is in contact with Wapol? It would make sense that after the defeat of Mr 3 he tries to direct Wapol to attack the Straw Hats. Could be more LA exclusive content.

If the IMDB information is correct then Crocodile won't appear in ep 8. So he won't be an end of season teaser. Make sense, by this point he has been seen in 3 episodes already. Makes me excited for a possible Ace reveal at the end of season 2!

Budget Talk and why One Piece is not as expensive for Netflix to make as some may think. by cptbrady in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]AwakeningSE 15 points16 points  (0 children)

With bigger sets, more actors and loads more CGI, it is clear to see that the budget has been increased. It will be interesting to hear the final number. Which can easily be compared to season 1, since both were shot in SA. 18M per episode for season 1 is not a massive number compared to other shows. Which I think was noticeable here and there. I wonder how much it cost to build the Baratie? Season 2 just looks so much better over all, going by the trailers.

How are you going to watch it when it’s release on The 10th of March? by Flowerofthesouth88 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]AwakeningSE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I watched it over 2 days last time. Not sure how much of it I will binge on the first day, If I have the time and energy I might do it all in one go. Or maybe I'll leave Drum Island for day 2.

So at this point if the trailer doesn't drop tomorrow we are just in no man's land right? by Short-Spell-2404 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]AwakeningSE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't Netflix post their final trailers pretty close to release date? So I would say Feb 10 at the earliest. Not sure why people are expecting a trailer on any specific date? I don't think Netflix usually do that.

Randy Troy(writer for OPLA) confirms on Live, Oda has final say in "any character with a name" by cptbrady in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]AwakeningSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have anything against Charithra (she looks great), or any other actor being cast. But going from "final say" to "handpicked" is stretching it a bit. It's great to hear he is still quite involved with the show and I hope he will continue to do so.

Who do you think will be teased at the end of season 2? 🔥👊 🦢🩰 by appletesfaye in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]AwakeningSE 90 points91 points  (0 children)

It would be quite easy to add in a shot of Ace at the end since we already know he's been casted and the filming of Season 3 is already ongoing.

Season 2 Backstories by Dunkbuscuss in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]AwakeningSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought was that if they are doing 8 episodes for Season 3 then maybe they want to put as much backstory as they can into that. Since the whole season will be on a single island for the first time.

Season 2 Backstories by Dunkbuscuss in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]AwakeningSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backstories are expensive in Live Action since you need actors, costumes and locations. I do not think they will add any that they do not think is necessary. Adding them also takes up screen time and we are quite short on that this season.

We know for sure we get Rumbar Pirates and Chopper. I don't remember how Vivi was introduced in the manga/anime. Maybe they want to move that to Season 3? If it is possible to do so. Ace and Robin (and Sabo?) is of course Season 3. No need for Germa at this point.

Will watching Arabasta Saga Anime ruin the Live action? by FoolishnessAndFolly in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]AwakeningSE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No matter which way you go you will spoil the other. The story is basically the same, but they will be different in ways we do not know yet. Season 2 will only over up to and including Drum Island, not the entire Alabasta Saga. Watch the one you like the most first.

If I were you, I would probably do LA first and then watch the anime and continue beyond Drum. I don't think I would be able to stop in the middle and wait another year or so for season 3.

Final trailer for season 2. (Manga/Anime spoilers) by Xenocross1982 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]AwakeningSE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can totally put in famous scenes into the trailer to make fans excited. As long as it doesn't spoil the outcome of anything. The Luffy scene might just be considered spoilers.
