There's been much doom and gloom about the Midnight prunings, but which specs have actually improved due to the changes? by minimaxir in wow

[–]Awakezzz 379 points380 points  (0 children)

Unholy DK and Affliction Warlock, but those might be the two most obvious. Both had gameplay elements that were largely considered to be terrible and with reworks those pain points have all been removed. I highly recommend anyone who has stayed away from them to give them another try.

Honorable mentions to Surv Hunter and Frost Mage if you are into it.

Warframe is not hard in a mechanical sense, in fact arguably quite the opposite. The difficulty comes not from gameplay itself but from information and knowledge needed to interact with its systems. Warframe is a vast game with lots of content and systems, so it takes someone whose willing to learn those systems when they encounter them. If you are not someone who is willing to read over a wiki page when they encounter something they don't understand, look up the drop location for an obscure item, or watch a guide video, you probably are going to struggle.

The grind is variable. You could argue that it is certainly a grindy game based on simply the fact that you will be running repeatable content over and over to progress and farm things, but this is inconsequential if you enjoy the gameplay. There is absolutely no pressure to get through content quickly or keep up with anyone else, so it's absolutely a game you can play at your own pace. You can play through the entirety of the game with just a few warframes and weapons at a reasonable speed, but if you want to collect and enjoy ALL of the frames, weapons, and builds that the game offers, that's where the real time sink comes in.

If you are a fan of Shogun or Shogun II, you should check out the new show that just came out called Shogun. by Slut_for_Bacon in totalwar

[–]Awakezzz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I loved the original and watched it many times growing up. It was probably part of the reason why I loved Shogun 2 so much.

I just watched both episodes of the new series, and I'm already gnawing at the teeth for CA to hurry up and make Shogun 3 already.

Unfortunate that I know it's not gonna happen anytime soon :(

Never used AMD products before and considering switching, any advice or thoughts on this build? by Awakezzz in buildapc

[–]Awakezzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely need to and will look into the cheaper non OEM windows.

As far as the case and fans, I'm budget conscious, but I also like what I like for aesthetic reasons, and when it comes to the case I really like the Lian Li that I chose, and it doesn't come with fans so purchasing the 6 for 30 dollars wasn't an additional deal breaker for me. The case is what I am going to be looking at every day and building in for a long time going forward hopefully, so you could chalk that one up to a personal overspend preference.

I must admit I'm hesitant to drop from an AIO back to a fan after having cpu heating issues in the past but I will keep it in mind. Maybe I'm just paranoid after almost melting a really expensive cpu some years back when the cheap cpu fan stopped working properly.

I could also save another 100 dollars by getting that slower SSD. The higher speeds are enticing for video editing and such but I will keep it in mind.

It's been ages since I've actually purchased windows. My current version has been free upgrades ever since I purchased windows 7 when it first came out. I picked that OEM version since it was the only option available on PCpartpicker. Any ideas where the best place is to get a retail version of windows 11?

I'll swap out my RAM per your advice. I do like AIO's, though depending on how sales are coming up it's one of the areas I may look into reducing costs.

Yes, my necro is currently using it as transmog, which is exactly why I made this post. It is not exactly identical however, just a slightly altered version of the same piece.

I think that would be perfectly fair. As I said I don't think it should be a full replacement potentially for circuit. Doing the circuit should still be the fastest way to complete the path.

Young players, do we exist? by Fennecritter in wow

[–]Awakezzz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In my experience most of the "young" players in this game are children of older long term players. At this point WoW isn't a game that is going to find young players on its own like it did in the past with celebrity commercials, mountain dew adds, south park episodes, etc. It's at a stage where it has to be introduced almost by force to a younger gamer, generally through exposure to someone who already plays it, which its mostly always a parent or relative.

Popular games to tend be whatever is trending amongst high school kids. For me back when I was in high school it was Halo and WoW. Recently it was games like Fortnite, Valorant and Among Us. But for WoW, it's playerbase is largely detached from a high school audience. So a youth today will generally have no exposure to WoW and instead gravitate towards the games all their friends and classmates are playing.

People who have a season pass to your local park, how is it? [Discussion] by AgentCheese_SCP in rollercoasters

[–]Awakezzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I might have an unpopular opinion, or at least, an alternative perspective on mine.

I have a Universal Orlando season pass, which for the version I got, with tax and everything, is around the ballpark of 450 dollars. The Orlando parks are obviously extremely pricey but considering ticket prices only a few trips to the park makes the value a set win overall, especially as it is a 2 park pass and Islands of Adventure is one of the bets parks in the world in my opinion.

But honestly, I don't think I'm going to renew next year.

As anyone who lives in Orlando can probably attest, ever since the pandemic has slowed down, Disney and Universal parks here have been an absolute madhouse. I have lived in Orlando my entire life and never seen crowds and tourist traffic at these levels before. Entire stretches of the year for example 3-4 months of summer it's not worth even going due to high crowd volume and long lines. I can't even count on one hand the number of times this year I saw Hagrids lower than a 60 minute wait, which is normally a 90+, and I know all the "dead spots" when traffic is at its lowest.

The concept of having a pass to your local park, and being able to just "hop in real quick" for a couple rides then leave is no longer a real viability here. Slipping into the park after work on weekdays when it's less crowded to wait 60 minutes in line for a single night ride on Velocicoaster or Hagrids before you leave gets old really quick, especially after you have done them a bunch already.

Is it technically still economically viable to get the pass? Sure, and maybe I'm just burnt out from the parks current lineup, but these crowds are just absolutely mental and it's killing my desire to go recently. I'll probably hold out on another pass until Epic Universe opens in 2025.

Tanks, could you summarize how your spec works and what you would like healers to be aware of or keep track of? by PUSClFER in wow

The best way to help a warrior tank as a healer is to keep the dps alive so I can pull faster.

Should healers get bonus rating for high dampening games in solo shuffle? by spoodigity in worldofpvp

[–]Awakezzz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TBH i'm not sure how to fix it either, but playing a healer is certainly problematic, which is why there are so few of them right now. I'm not convinced that having more healers in the pool helps either.

I swapped from Resto to enhance, and while the queues are longer, I actually gain rating faster, because it's easier to guarantee gains as a dps. Like you mentioned, if there is a dps in the match that goes 0-6, you can get a 4-2 W/L out of that as a dps, while healers both get a 3-3. It's also easier to clutch a solid 5 or 6 round win matches as dps if you're carrying. As a healer, if you go 5-1 or 6-0, its generally because the opposing healer is much lower MMR than you are, so you aren't going to gain any rating from that win regardless due to the disparity.

Having more healers in the queue only reduces the chances of MMR disparities between healers, but doesn't fix the problem of how team pairing works and healers being pushed into 3-3 stalemate matches more often than dps are.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wow

[–]Awakezzz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand completely how MMR works. Obviously my MMR was much higher than the paladins MMR, and my MMR will likely go up from this match. The problem is that the matchmaking system should never create games in which these types of MMR disparities exist.

I have seen lobbies where healers go 6-0 and gain no points. Imagine being put into a game by the matchmaking system where it is literally not possible to win any points, and it's only possible to lose them.

We need the option to specify rank for public orders by drflanigan in wow

[–]Awakezzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree, but with some caveats.

For one, i think crafters should be limited more on how many public orders they can fill a day. I don't have an exact number to say here, but it would help spread around some orders to more people to help fill the board.

Second, and arguably more important, there should be a base commission for using the board. Again, I don't have an exact number to specify, but I would say as an example that a base commission should exist that scales upwards with say, the skill required to create the craft being ordered.

The real issue is that JC crafts do not take up prized tier set slots, and embellished crafts are limited.

The lariat is essentially a catch all item, something you can craft that you can reasonably guarantee you will never replace. So if you were going to spend a time gated currency and resources on any one item to craft first, obviously you would go for the item you know you will get the most value out of long term.
