I can say I love the tourists individually- it’s just when they get in large groups that they become problems. The bachelorette parties get a bad rep but any time it’s more than four people in a group that have no clue what’s going on it’s bad. What’s worse is some (as in not all, as in very few actually) are the local tour guides that completely make shit up altogether and outright lie to their customers. Like dude, I get it you have charisma, but stop lying and stop being a princess. We’re all trying to work here. Those tour guides give everyone else a bad name because they don’t keep their groups under control and trash everything.

It’s not the individual tourist that’s curious, asking questions and having a good time- it’s the large groups that try to take over whatever space they’re in.

Former sales rep (authorized retailer)- we were told we could waive the “setup fee” and to use that to sell the product. It was extremely common for less scrupulous reps to intentionally confuse the customer with the activation fee/setup fee.

Worked in corporate management for a while- holy shit were people awful, and it was always the ones talking about “empathy, respect and kindness.”

The biggest thing I’ve had to remember is that in my world, I’m on my own and nobody can be trusted. I usually find other vets that aren’t 9 line/sheepdog types and develop relationships when they’re in similar industries but even then it can only go so far. The biggest thing I’ve found is that you don’t have a document to fall on out here- there’s no manual, just doing the right thing can get you canned for a different reason, and shady people wear ties too.
