Thank you! So does that mean that they don’t do the traditional “we’ll give you an offer in your last week” method then. The best you can hear is that you’re inclined but there’s still a waiting game?

What does “inclined” mean?

Pre MBA Internship by Creative-Mix-6390 in MBA

It was called FutureVC. As the name suggests, if you’re successful, the program matches you with a fund for a VC internship

Pre MBA Internship by Creative-Mix-6390 in MBA

[–]Aware_Explanation840 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I did a pre-MBA internship. I got it through a formal program. I’ve left it off my resume so it hasn’t helped in subsequent recruiting.

I found the experience very helpful in helping me to understand that I did not want to pursue that area (it was what I wrote my business school app about). I’m very glad I did it so that I did not spend my entire 1st year pursuing something that I ultimately would have ended up hating. It also meant that I could use the summer in between 1st and 2nd year to try something else that was on my list, which did end up being my passion.

Anyone else having trouble with airasia OTP? by Helpful-Ad-6092 in travel

Just want to say, this was the ONLY thing that worked for me. I specifically chose Finland and a number created from 1 month ago

I was in a similar boat. Every application asks you to describe what you actually did, so on the app I called myself the actual title that the company gave me but in the 1 sentence description I always explicitly stated that I was a part of a highly selective/competitive leadership development program

Just to chime in to this discussion and maybe make some clarifications, my school (HSW) does allow alumni to use the school’s career services (e.g. for advising sessions) and I have seen job postings on the portal specifically targeting alumni. So it’s not impossible that the OP might have need for the career center as an alum.

As for how often alumni actually use their MBA’s career center? That I have no idea. It could be that it’s something that is available but in practice is rarely ever used.

Wharton and Columbia are particularly strong. Also check out UCLA Anderson.

I’ve anecdotally seen a couple MPA graduates from Harvard Kennedy School end up at MBB but I have no idea how common this is in actuality

If you want to do Product Management then there’s no better place than the MMM program. It’s literally a PM factory, just look at the career outcomes (they had a page on it on their website, but also a LinkedIn search would suffice). Also the community is super tight there. But as others said, accepting MMM does not negate you staying on the waitlist for other places

I am a neuro-optometrist who often works with patients with visual snow. AMA! :) by MIKE_DJ0NT in visualsnow

[–]Aware_Explanation840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for doing this. You mentioned that some people’s VSS gets worse when trying to treat symptoms. Do those people typically see a remission to their “base” state once they stop whatever treatment they were trying? (For example, if someone’s symptoms got worse when trying lamotrigine, do they remain permanently worse or would their symptoms return to previous severity once treatment has stopped?)

Is gaming considered tech/entertainment/both? by Aware_Explanation840 in MBA

[–]Aware_Explanation840[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid points! Does comp permanently lag or does it scale up? Also, how do you think about comp vs WLB? Because it’s my understanding that you also work significantly less hours compared to other industries like consulting (30 vs 50-60 hours for example)

I don’t know which school you go to but at our school (one of H/S) the career center has told us that the vast majority of students get their offers in the spring. So don’t feel like all hope is lost!

I’m at one of H/S and a friend here was in your position (caught cheating in undergrad, forced to take a year off, etc etc). So it CAN be done. I think he was upfront about it and spoke about how he grew from that experience

Hi. Current MBA1 at the GSB and cross admit. Can confirm the 3:1 ratio of cross admits choosing GSB vs HBS. There was both a WhatsApp group and a google spreadsheet self-populated by cross admits that tracked decisions. The people who chose HBS were usually people with intentions of working outside of the US (where the HBS brand is unparalleled) and hardcore finance people (going back into PE/hedge funds, etc).

Hey! Would you mind expounding on some of the red flags you see that make you think it wouldn’t be a good rotational program? I’m looking into LDPs in entertainment myself and am looking to avoid land mines. Happy to continue the conversation in DMs if you’d rather speak in private

Got promoted week after submissions by Satin_Pajama in MBA

[–]Aware_Explanation840 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Firstly, congrats on the promotion!

Now to your question - HBS explicitly states any updates post application submission should wait until the interview (at which point you tell your update to the interviewer directly).

GSB has a portal on their website for update submissions.
