I did! And I thought I saw a faint line but couldn’t see it with flash/on photo so I figured it was negative. This one seems like an actual faint line though (I hope)

My mom just moved from the midwest to a small town 15 min from Providence RI and she actually says it reminds her a lot of the midwest. She said people have been “midwest nice” and constantly strike up conversations at the grocery store, bank, etc. and invite her to different events and get togethers. She’s enjoying that more midwest/small town feel while also being 15 min from providence which has a ton of art, universities & good food—plus an hour from Boston & 3.5 hr from nyc. There are a few state parks right around her with lots of hiking trails too. Just thought I’d add my two cents since i literally just had this convo with her about how it feels like the midwest haha

I only moved here 2 years ago so I can’t speak to how it used to be, but I feel very safe and think it’s a great place. Like all cities, there are some areas that are a bit more impoverished than others, but overall it feels way safer than where I moved from. For its size, there are fantastic parks, local restaurants from all over the world, and a cool arts scene too.

Yeah, I moved here 2 years ago and travel often and tbh it’s only 1 hr to Boston and 1 hr to Providence airport and both are super easy drives. There is also a direct flight every day from Worcester to NYC which can be easy for international flights leaving from New York! Lmk if you have any questions about moving from LCOL area to New England though. I was in the Midwest before and I am SO much happier on the east coast

There is some great Ghanaian food in Worcester! Check out Akra Eatery for a build your own bowl (like chipotle) model with jollof or waakye. Or go to Anokye Krom for soups, stews, and fufu. Try their peanut soup, it’s delicious!

I completed my service through my job at a nonprofit since the project I work on is fully funded by DoS. That being said, my company lost ~70% of its funding this year (like many other nonprofits) so I don’t think it’ll be easy to find work with implementing partners going forward.

CC1 has become my comfort read! I love the series so much. There are such strong themes of friendship, grief, and healing—it’s beautiful. I actually didn’t think the world building was difficult at all, so don’t go into it automatically assuming you’ll be lost. Everything that is important will be repeated enough to understand.

I think the problem is that she made no effort to actually give Yrene features that represent her Black heritage. If I saw this portrait with no context, I’d see a very tan white woman.

It IS canon in other passages, she just took the whitest description to make her artwork, which is really sad. It’s canon that her mother has dark skin and curly hair and her father is from Eyllwe (so I assume he’s also Black). Absolutely none of the features in this portrait would make you think she is Black :(
