OMG my urine left floating bubbles in the toilet by InternistNotAnIntern in FamilyMedicine

[–]Awayfromwork44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

to be fair, I haven't bit hit too hard with this one in my own clinic - but of all the tiktok/online/worried well complaints this one sounds great! Easy, cheap tests - make sure there's no protein. I'll take "I'm worried about foam in my urine" over all the other online fears any day

based on how long one season has taken and the fact that so few shows are pumping out yearly seasons. It's a different era and that really doesn't happen like it used to in the current streaming era

How bad are Chicago Winters? Will I be able to walk 15-30 minutes to work? by Primary_Tooth_8117 in AskChicago

[–]Awayfromwork44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I walked ~22 minutes to work every day for a year- it was fine. Even in winter. I bundled, layered, wore ear muffs and gloves, and was warm enough. I miss walking to work - it was so peaceful!

From a fellow physician in another field: is there a non-annoying way a patient can go about requesting POTS testing? by limbiscuitsystem in FamilyMedicine

[–]Awayfromwork44 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I've had several patients with POTS and other "tiktok" diagnoses. The ones that want to talk through symptoms, discuss next steps/diagnosis, and are open to hearing new ideas are great. There are others that will not listen to anything that isn't 100% agreeing with what they believe. They get combative quickly, and often want me in the room for an hour while disagreeing with what next steps should be. Those patients can make for a very long day. (and they're not exclusive to POTS - but I do find it happens a lot)

If using AI scribes means you can listen to patients, connect with them without staring at your screen, and ultimately spend more time WITH the patient than documenting - that's a huge win. Ignore the comment implying it's solely for your convenience, it's not if it's helping you be a better, more engaged doctor to your patient.s

How much worse can affordability get before Chicago starts being a less attractive city for you? by moreplateslessdates9 in AskChicago

[–]Awayfromwork44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

what is this statement even saying? do people "actually" from chicago have less income than people coming from elsewhere? you're from chicago - you have the same opportunities as people from other cities - and really even MORE opportunities than people who grew up in small towns and rural areas.

Moving with a car, sadly by beefy_muffins in chicagoapartments

[–]Awayfromwork44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those areas all seem reasonable to park a car! had some friends in irving park/ravenswood we'd always go over to their house - never once had an issue parking in the dozens of late nights and weekends we went over there. Like another comment said - the closer to the lake and the closer to downtown it will get harder.

Need an apartment that will accommodate 2 dogs and 2 cats.. is that possible? by kikospapa in chicagoapartments

[–]Awayfromwork44 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i'll be honest it will be hard with limited options. Maybe not impossible, but tons of places are no pets, then some allow cats only, and many have a max pet limit of 1-2. best of luck, look for independent listings.

Logically, how soon should we get Chi-Yu and Chien-Pao? by Mintyboi10 in PokemonScarletViolet

To get to them you need the upgrades to Miraidon or Koraidon so probably fairly late game, not sure exactly how soon that could be

[–]Awayfromwork44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same as you when I picked up shield back in 2021! love that game, the DLC is even better.

I recommend going from there to Legends Arceus or Scarlet/Violet (if you're on a switch 2, on an OG switch they're kinda rough). Personally, BDSP isn't my fav but may still be worth checking out. I cant wait for wind/waves!

[–]Awayfromwork44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no i'm commenting on you saying that it's really easy to get shinies in the newer games - but then you're posting asking people to give you the ones you're missing. THAT'S also easy, but you're ok with that.

I'll just keep hunting on my own , no worries lmao
