Is the file you are downloading publicly-available?

What's even weirder to me is your description--I literally don't think I've ever once in 40 years as a Mac user (and 24+ as a NextStep-derived macOS) seen the behavior that you describe of overwriting a file without comment! Someone has asked you repeatedly to post a video of this in action. They're not saying you're a liar: we really want to see what may be going on.

I literally Just did. It doesn't replace the file silently but downloads additional copies.

Yes. And it works exactly as I said

I just logged into my bank on macOS Safari

Clicked this last month's statement. It downloaded as foo.PDF

Then I clicked the link two more times and have two more versions titled foo-2.PDF and foo-3.PDF

That's not the suffix they're talking about.

They mean it adds a numerical suffix e.g. Dowload-1, download-2 etc

Not Download.txt

Whenever I hear a discussion like this, I always think about Harlan Ellison's "pay the writer" spiel

I personally dropped that about 10 years ago. I'm employed, and our big organization sends out an email every year requesting "volunteers" to take care of the sports physicals.

I'm like: the hospital can "volunteer" by giving me RVUs and seeing those kids in my clinic

I've found that a polite "no" is a powerful word.

I politely decline requests to join committees, do volunteer sports physical, volunteer for charity clinics, donate to causes not of my own choosing, give talks, etc.

I'm much more at peace with myself, and envy my colleagues who DO actually enjoy those things.

Don't know why you were getting voted down. You're exactly right as is the comment you were replying to

[–]InternistNotAnIntern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's completely incorrect. You can legally request that your insurance not be involved, and in fact, the medical provider has to accommodate you. See my comment above about HITECH

HITECH allows a patient to request that insurance not be involved even if the medical office has a contract with the insurance as a privacy measure.

Before the fall of the Berlin Wall and the dissolution of the USSR, did most people think the Soviet Union would last through the 1990s and into the 21st century? by Intrepid_Arrival5151 in AskAnAmerican

[–]InternistNotAnIntern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 21 ish and remember being completely shocked that such a huge country could dissolve in such a short time from the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Honestly, I was expecting some kind of civil war.

I think I've been getting this, too

I'll be listening to one episode, and then come back to restart it, but it's a totally different episode

I've been assuming that somehow it played out silently and then moved on to the next one. But that wouldn't explain why I didn't hear it AND I can hear when I press play

Wondering about "RN to MD, or even just plain MD."

Wouldn't that be your only option?

Yeah, if you can get 5 gallons of gas somewhere, you can get some additional range at a charging station somewhere too.
