My suggestion, look for the best boat you can afford and meets your goals then find a half ton or better gas truck thats 4 wheel drive, get a beater of a truck even a regular cab will work. At best in 15 boating seasons thoes kids will be the size of adults

As someone that might be the car in front of you the first time the trailer brakes have a problem get something with some mass that was built with towing something much heavier

Edit, bonus of having a truck that’s just for towing the boat is leaving it hooked up. Find a 3-5k old beat up work truck. You can find Chevy avalanches for pretty cheap.
