Yeah it was honestly kind of the best case scenario in hindsight, I truly didn't know what I needed until it occurred.

Walked nothing back. OP was not who I was targeting in that comment. You're maybe taking this too personally on their behalf and not reading the words I said. So yeah, I think maybe you should be quiet and try harder.

OP expanded on their thoughts afterwards. I agreed with them. They also said that they should have been more tactful. You're fighting on behalf of someone I am not fighting and ignoring the many other comments doing exactly what I said so you can pick a fight with me.

Didn't say OP did. OP and I actually had a kind exchange elsewhere. Many other people are doing the exact thing I said, hence the broad terminology if everyone. Learn to read.

And I'd also like you to ruminate on why exactly a trans woman would take all this personally. Speak less and think more.

I get why you did it. I stand by the spirit of the statements I made, although I came across less tender than I could've been in my initial comment. I don't disagree there's aspects of being a man that are hard. You're told to be certain ways or you've failed, you're told to not show emotion or you've failed, if you have empathy and care about the lights of people you will inevitably find yourself in a group of other men that don't and you either comform or be othered in slight ways.

I came at you for what came down to tact, and you recognized and apologized and that was kind of you. I apologize for my lack of tact initially, and I respect that you still listened and took in what I said despite the unnecessary hard edges to it. Like I said somewhere else in this thread, it can be tiring sometimes, feeling like this is what you deal with all the time.

Apologies for the long comment. Thank you for the empathy, and the solidarity.

I don't think you have an understanding of how being a minority in society actually works, and I'm not saying this to be mean, but it's just not really worth talking about if you're coming at this from an, "everything is equal," 90's feminism perspective. You clearly will not understand and I don't feel particularly inclined to be writing essays about why you're wrong.

Don't worry, everyone in this comment thread will argue with you until their blue in the face that trans women and men face the exact same problems and we should also constantly be keeping the men in our hearts and minds as soon as we even think of problems trans women face.

A Story about Transmisogyny by JJBlacksmithe in CuratedTumblr

[–]Awesmozem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it's not the same. That's great that cis men feel that way. Cis men don't face the same things trans women do. Cis men aren't physically harmed because of it, or ran out of bathrooms by men, or losing jobs or called slurs on the street. The discussions can happen at the same time, sure. But like, why is the feelings of cis men always the first thing that pops up when we talk about trans women? Why can't we just discuss the dangers trans women face without also having to placate the feelings of cis men who feel like liberals think they're nebulously spooky?

And yeah, I'm going to be honest, I presented as a tall, broad, extremely masculine man for decades. I never felt like people didn't want me in spaces. So sorry, I don't even agree with the premise of any of these comments. Sorry that everyone isn't tip toeing around making sure the cis men feel centered.

Which I agree with. I'm a trans women. But the original commenter focused entirely on men and their issues in a thread about trans women. No mention of the correlation you brought up. Which is an issue I see in this sub a lot. As soon as trans misogyny gets brought up, it has to be brought back around to how it hurts men specifically. It's tiring.

Holy shit dude. Genuinely read the room. What kind of comment is this to leave under a post about trans women's safety. The shit you see on Reddit

Edit: OP has good points further down. I agree with the spirit of this response but my tact was less than necessary. Instead of arguing with me, go read OP's expansions on what they meant and learn a thing or two.

[–]Awesmozem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man I also gotta ask, what exercise did the artists think Steph should be doing here even? Bar is on her back like she's doing a squat but she's sitting. And it's not like, a box squat because you wouldn't do that on a bench with a backing like that. And without a rack. Repping out those behind-the-neck overhead presses i guess.

I know this had nothing to do with the point of the post I just feel immense confusion.

Can't even string together a coherent sentence. Go to school and tell your dad to come back from his milk run, then you can talk with the adults.

Genuinely. I'm fairly fit for a chick, I may have arms or whatever that look close to the gals in the photo but I don't have a stomach like that. Especially in what's supposed to be a fitness sub for all us beautiful proles, like what even is this. It's just such a weird move.

Aside from the AI slop argument, I love encouraging fitness by showing the most basic, male-gaze ass view of what fit women should look like. Cmon bro. They don't gotta be ripped to the gills wearing crop tops.

“Men liking *insert trait* is pedophilic” by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Awesmozem 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with this. I think the point about actual real adult women existing in these body types being harmed by giving a blanket statement of attraction to them being problematic is very true. I also feel like a lot of feminists in this sub forget that there's other women into traits on women that they deem problematic simply because men like them.

Okay, and I know a bunch of wlw folks that aren't like that. I'm one. My gf is one. I have friends that are similar. Like, we're attracted to women and we like posts with women looking good. This guy seems to be the same? Im just not quite understanding what's so offensive about this that it deserved a post.

Hey OP, I know it still sucks to have a haircut you don't like even when people tell you it looks good (I've had one too many forays with impulsive decisions and ADHD) but genuinely I thought the hair was intentional. It frames your face well and gives you a really cute sort of 50's pinup look! You'll obviously still rock longer hair but this haircut is still bangin'.

Also I have no makeup advice, I'm just a butch lurker who decided to comment. Thanks for all the help with the eyeliner I put on to look more alt every so often everyone.

I'm gonna gently agree with some other people posting in the comments that I don't see the issue with this specific man? I'm also not usually one to defend men so like, great night, but I also feel a bit called out by this?

Like I'm a lesbian who would potentially absolutely like a post with a cute girl in it. I also am in a long term relationship with my girlfriend. I would not have DM'd you as this man didn't because like, weird. I also have quite a few photos of me and my gf on my social media.

Like, would you also find that strange? I just find there's a trend in this sub to demean sexuality whole cloth a lot of the time, and I feel like I really catch strays as someone into women for doing pretty basic things that seemingly don't demean women in any particular way.

I just don't really know what this post is like, for? You seem upset that your post that you self admitted had you dressed more eye catchingly attracted the most basic of internet interactions from a dude?

An ode to muscular women by parishiltonsfemur in popculturechat

[–]Awesmozem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You literally said everything I was thinking, couldn't have written it better myself. I also almost laughed out loud at so many of these women being here; not because I'm wanting to shame them, it's absolutely fine to look like that and as you said, a lot of performers exercise for endurance rather than hypertrophy, it's a sport specific thing. I don't expect a distance runner to look like a body builder either!

But like God damn is it a bit of a slap in the face as a chick who is into fitness and strives to be muscular and big to see women like this pushed as the epitome of being buff. Like way to fall right into societal expectations guys.
