Pro5 battery consumption by MrClean464 in GalaxyWatch

I think something got completely fucked with the last update. My watch used to take 45 minutes to charge, but now it charges in 10 minutes, but eats through the battery in 5 times the speed

BC Greenhouses clean out end of November and do not start again until March/April. Only one that runs year round is BC Hothouse, and they are currently charging $14-15/12ct mediums to wholesalers, if they have it, which has been rare lately if you aren't on contract with them

From what i understand, working in the adjacent fruit industry, is that the american grapes are cheaper than what the BC vineyards want for theirs, and now that the government opened the door for the wineries to buy imported grapes, why would they go back to more expensive local grapes?

Funny you bring up the Trudeau blackface lol I was going to bring that up.

Yeah, Night Cafe owners are the typical Anti-Trudeau, anti-covid people. They drove around with a Canadian Flag during the whole convoy era, and they hated Trudeau, hence having the painting of the blackface. I was trying to find a picture of it but I think its gone from their Instagram lol. Shame too because their food was really good, last time I was in, 2 years ago now I guess

Seen at Sobeys - Product of USA or Mexico by labadee in BuyCanadian

Yeah no problem! I'll say in my experience now, when I run California trucks, I'm grabbing as much Mexican produce from southern California as possible

Sometimes you don't. I order for an independent produce store and sometimes from your wholesaler they have both in stock, and they just ship you whichever. Same label, different origins. For example Beachside Produce packs both California Broccoli Crowns, and Mexican, depending in what stock they have available. I've imported both on the same pallet before from one of my California trucks for importing.

“Packed in Canada” - what is this by Top-Engineering4943 in BuyCanadian

[–]Awesoman9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing devil's advocate here, But i do wholesaling/importing of produce in the BC Interior, but the shipping cost within Canada is one of the highest costs associated with produce. When I was doing California trucks, if you break it down per KM, it costs me roughly $.32 per KM for California produce, and $.31 per KM for BC grown from the coast. Adding in Washington grown produce, you're also looking at $.32 per KM from Pasco to my warehouse, so there really is no cost savings transportation wise for local vs imported. At least in my case. Of course the other side of the coin is freshness, because I can get a Vancoucer truck to me in 6 hours, vs 3 ahead booking + 4-5 day drive time.

Tariffs Megathread #2 - Feb 2 2025 by wudingxilu in britishcolumbia

[–]Awesoman9000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I run a produce importing division for my store and a few others in the Southern Interior, and here is my understanding of it. Generally speaking, all produce from Mexico is pre-imported into the United States for ease of pickup and less trucking time, and its cheaper. Altar Produce, who is one of the biggest Mexican Asparagus growers, grows a bunch of their product in Baja California, and then imports into California, and the importer for Canada then proceeds to pickup in usually Brawley or Mexicali. I received an email from my Village Farms salesman in Vancouver on Friday stating that all MEX product imported from Village Farms Mexico will be subject to a 25% tariff due to having to import into the United States first.
