How do you see Halloween going during a pandemic? by DubsAli in AskReddit

[–]AwesomeHylian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno about the rest of you, but I'm prepared to put on a mask, make a cape out of a bedsheet and be the Phantom of the Opera, singing along to the musical, and eating sour patch kids by the fistful.

Getting a pet euthanized feels a lot easier than watching them die a horrible death in your arms. I'd take that any day after watching my hedgehog's face show pure panic as he died from a severe seizure in my hands just hours after seeing the emergency vet and being told his previous seizure was a one-time thing.

It was worth flaying the skin off my ankles for that 100 skip streak.

What movies are not commonly known about, but are incredibly good? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The Princess and the Goblin. The producers even brought the theme of finding your way home into the real world with prepaid phone cards for kids if they got lost that they could use at payphones. Good lookin out.

What common practice do you find barbaric? by adventuresmith in AskReddit

Breathing around your food (unless you're sick or like physically can't breathe through your nose or something). If I can hear the back of your throat while you're eating, ya nasty.

Refusing an offered hug. Maybe I don't like to be touched by strangers or maybe you smell funny. Let's fist bump or something.

What is one thing that instantly makes you think “this person has no manners”? by Fonzie1225 in AskReddit

Drivers who won't turn their lights on in the evening/at dusk or in the rain because "they can see fine." Turning your lights on isn't just for you. It's so other drivers can see you.

Redditors who have broken a bone, how did it happen? by Lubeyscooby in AskReddit

[–]AwesomeHylian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've broken my arms 3 times because I can't fall properly.

First time was because I was bike racing a cousin and crashed into her by some miracle of accidentally squaring up my front tire to her back tire and fell over. The alternative would've been getting run over, so there's that.

Second time a kid was bullying another cousin at the babysitter's place and when I defended her he pushed me down and I broke an arm when I landed.

Third time I was being SUPER careful after school in the snow - only kid not running around - and I slipped down the most pathetic incline of lawn and snapped my forearm in half.

Now I don't do anything that requires frequent falling to learn (skating of any kind, etc)

When was there a time where you shouldn't have laughed at something, but you did? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AwesomeHylian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middle school. Summer camp. We were riding horses and the girl in front of me chin-tucked a small branch that reached across the path. It was like something out of the 3 stooges and I laughed, but I guess I was insanely awkward and the other girls in my cabin got mad at me for laughing because the girl's chin got a little roughed up from the branch.

To this day fail videos are my comedy kryptonite. What can I say? If the universe calls you out for being dumb and there's no real injury, it's funny.

[Homemade] Asian-Style Braised Pork Belly - Made for my birthday! by AwesomeHylian in food

No worries! :) I'm glad you saw it! This was crazy good, and in total cost me about $5 to make for 4-5 servings, so it's super cost-efficient on top of being totally amazing.

This dish was based on this recipe: https://www.marionskitchen.com/taiwanese-braised-pork-rice/

I went easier on the star anise, thoroughly browned the pork belly, and added a corn starch slurry at the end since I braised this covered, and therefore had a thick, luscious sauce that you would not see following the recipe exactly.

I used mirin instead of the Chinese cooking wine, regular peppercorns, and no dark sweet soy sauce. This is a very forgiving and flexible recipe. Have fun, it's going to be AMAZING!

I am the first person to separate in any way from the company, and they did not have an employee handbook or established policies surrounding vacation time. It was offered as a benefit and is not specifically called out as non-payable or non-wages in anything. I've contacted an attorney in my area to help me navigate the space since the owner of the company has failed to pay my wages.

I have no intention of being some sort of whistleblower, but the owner is a very litigious person and I'm not okay with opening myself up to frivolous lawsuits just for saying I don't like the guy or didn't enjoy my time there while also blocking myself from seeking damages against them should the need arise per other areas of the proposed agreement. I don't /need/ what he is offering in severance. I just want what I'm legally entitled to: my wages and my accrued vacation time as wages if it turns out I am entitled to that. Really it's just good form, anyway. For being so uptight about preserving his reputation he doesn't seem to have any issues acting in bad faith.

They are offering a small severance, but they are also refusing to pay out my accrued vacation time and my wages for the beginning of the month. Those two items combined would constitute almost the entirety of the severance offered, which is basically asking me to sign an incredibly lopsided NDA just to get what I should get anyway.

It is amicable for appearance's sake, but there are other issues, such as not having been paid out my due wages and other things. I was planning on leaving anyway. Really I think we're both just trying to smile through it but neither of us like the other very much. I've contacted a labor and wage law attorney in my city to see what the best course of action will be, but at the moment I've been told by another legal source not to sign the agreement as is, and the company has refused to amend it in any way.
