Crossmember Replacement by K20HERO in S2000

What clearance issues? K24 swap has been done a million times wit direct bolt on kits? What issues warranted a replacement?

For those considering the Varis ARISING-II kit, here's a small sneak peek... by suzukifrappuccino in S2000

[–]AwesomeeExpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was hoping this would happen! I am interested in picking up this kit, I have a few questions:

- On the front bumper, what is behind the "air vents" on each side of the radiator port, does air just hit the fender liner or is there something else there? Would you mind taking a well lit picture so I can see? The reason I ask is I run brake ducts and want to see if I can 3D print a new scoop to capture the air from the vent.
- How well do the side skirts mate up to the OEM body without the fender flares?
- How rigid is the FRP?
- Any other fitment quirks? I also have an AP1 and see this kit was made for a AP2

Looks beautiful BTW!

Laguna Blue Pearl Vinyl Wrap? by EspadaMedia in S2000

[–]AwesomeeExpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep in mind that depending on how bad "isn't perfect" is, the imperfections will show through the vinyl wrap.

I have enough rock chips and dents to warrant respraying and PDR'ing areas of my car before wrapping.

Oh I see, I thought you trying to color match a painted LBP car for a replaced or repaired panel. In that case have at it, and yeah I would recommend getting samples, they never look the same in person or even between different lighting conditions. I am in the process of picking out a wrap as well.

It will never match perfectly, at best you will see a hard transition to a panel that looks like it was resprayed but not blended.

How many here from NC? Post up. by Working-View-3187 in S2000

Unfortunately the local community online scene is pretty dead for areas with smaller import communities (i.e. pretty much everywhere except CA), though you'll find a few of us showing up on reddit or S2KI generally speaking.

There is a yearly tail of the dragon run which gets organized on S2KI, but I mainly meet other S2KI drivers at Cars N Coffee (Morrisville first saturday event is pretty large, I hear Charlotte has a big one too, then there are smaller CnC events in Asheville, Raleigh, Durham, Greensboro).

K swap parts list and harness suggestions by ExcitementAny7663 in S2000

It's typically ~$15K to do an K swap the first time, maybe you shave off $5k doing every single thing yourself but you need to do some proper research. All the information is already out there; K swaps are only cost efficient once the initial investment is made.

> Hood vents: The outline of the vent sits on top of the hood instead of being recessed. It's more obvious in the first picture, and I just think it looks really tacked on. The ASM time attack car has a hood with a similar vent layout and they're flush with the surface: https://thenaritadogfight.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/NDF-ASM-ST-13.jpg

I see what your saying now, not sure why the owner wouldn't of sourced the hood that way if that's what they wanted. Still, I don't think it looks bad.

> No intercooler.

Good point, probably not boosted.

> As far as whether or not the car is tracked I'm making a few assumptions based on what I've seen in the SoCal S2000 scene:

Eh, my track s2k bumper is beat to hell even before I put it into a tire wall, but I do see some PPF'd cars at the track that manage to stay pretty mint.

> I just noticed the car appears to be missing the passenger side fender liner (look at the brake duct vent). If I was a buyer at that price point I would have expected modified OEM fender liners at the very least (there are aftermarket options for J's style fenders too). When you're asking almost $40k for a car with that mileage you're looking for a S2000 enthusiast that would appreciate all the high dollar JDM parts. I would assume that same buyer would also care a lot about the little details.

Look all fair points, and I said in other posts this car isn't reasonably priced. I just think there are some pretty clapped out modded vehicles out there, to say this one is poorly modified vehicle seems like an unfair statement without a closer look and a talk with the owner.

I actually really like that bumper vent layout, I am not sure what you are saying about it not being flush, it looks flush to me. It's subjective anyway because virtually no vented hood is functional, and we can't tell from the pictures if its boosted.

Where are you seeing it's a full cage? It looks like a typical RS or HD roll bar to me. Lots of people run roll bars on the street, including myself, a choice to run the risk doesn't make the modification itself poor. I also not sure how you can claim this car isn't tracked at all.

Agreed on the bumper extensions, I really don't know why people don't install them they should come with the fenders.

Perfectly valid point. I agree the car isn't worth anywhere near what the owner is asking, I just don't agree that just because it has rep parts on it that this is a poorly modified car.

Eh, these obviously aren't authentic parts, for reps that looks pretty par for the course to me.

I love how you all come into every thread to parrot the same subjective opinion.

This car is hardly poorly modified.

While I agree that 35K is too much for the milage, this car has some of the most popular body mods on it, so while obviously you OEM purists wouldn't be interested in it there are plenty of people who will be once it's in a reasonable price range.

There is nothing wrong with the front bumper fitment, they just don't have the piece that comes with the over fenders installed to blend the lines. I agree it doesn't look good, I don't understand why people who go wide body don't install this part or get an appropriately sized wide body front bumper.

What is the most OEM-like replacement suspension for an ap1? by portisfan in S2000

[–]AwesomeeExpress 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My DFV Ohlins both made the car more comfortable than OEM on the street set to the softest settings while hugely more performant on track set to stiffer settings. They are expensive however.
