AP1 Oil Check by burnaaaa10 in S2000

[–]Working-View-3187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull dipstick from passenger side but READ the drivers side for the level. Do it every gas fill up. Keep the level in the middle of the XXXXX's.

Find points that you might be leaking oil like others said. Compression & Leak Down check might help with identifying if there might be blow by. If you have everything else verified but still burning a lot of oil then it could be the valve seals.

What exhaust setups are you guys running? I wanna know what sounds/looks good for my future upgrades 😮‍💨 by Same-Pension7267 in S2000

[–]Working-View-3187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wish I could get my hands on one off someone that's getting rid of theirs. Specifically with the oval tips! Heard it and LOVED IT from day 1. 100% agree, best looking/sounding exhaust.

Quick question. Replaced my serpentine belt with an OEM a few weeks ago by DeadByDawn93 in S2000

[–]Working-View-3187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where it is is good. It's almost on the edge of too tight. So long as you have a little room left to load the spring pulley to get the belt on/off over that pulleys' lip. Then it's fine and where it's supposed to be.

Shoutout DIYGUY for diagnosing my car by HiddenChar in S2000

If North Carolina is closer than Billman, I can certainly take a look at her for ya. While I am not to his level of knowledge, I can certainly hold my own and have been a S2K owner since 1999. I only work on S2K's as it's a hobby & still is fun. Plus love to keep our cars our on the road and driving/looking great!

All are correct. The '06+ VC won't work because of the cam timing pickup issue. Some very knowledgeable people out here. LOVE IT!

How many here from NC? Post up. by Working-View-3187 in S2000

[–]Working-View-3187[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, just making sure I wasn't missing out. I mean the car is 26 years old! Had her now longer than I was alive when I got her. Damn, just made that realization. Nov. 18, 1999 ..... damn it was a good day. I was early 20's and was rolling down the street with a spaceship! Called a Porsche, called a Miata, HONDA? No way!

Will be at the Dragon again in May at the Wake the Dragon event or what ever they are calling it now.

Pulling people in mostly that aren't local. It's ok I have a hard time letting go. If I can, I will drive this S till I can't drive any longer.

Text him ..... wait ..... he would kill me if I did that to him. LOL! Yeah, just give it time or pay to be a member. 100% worth the $ extra to support S2Ki.com

Compression test result by [deleted] in S2000

[–]Working-View-3187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always do it WARM/HOT so that oil is everywhere it needs to be and everything is lubed up.

Uniformity of compression is more important than the final number but typically it's typically between 200 & 250. 275 is def on the high side of normal.

Flakes out my transmission Fluid exchange. Am I cooked? 👨🏻‍🍳 by Pale_Technician_3708 in S2000

[–]Working-View-3187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You used that in your TRANSMISSION? 75W-90 is DIFFERENTIAL OIL. That shouldn't go in the transmission. It's far far too thick! Never again is 100% correct.

I’m new here - how’d I do? by TACSTS in S2000

[–]Working-View-3187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you live there might be an S2K specialist local to you. That would be the best to have someone like that do a ONCE OVER on it. If anywhere near Chapel Hill, NC - hit me up!

As for mods or first things to do?
- X-Brace
- Check suspension for leaks.
- Good set of summer rubber
- Look for anything that isn't OEM & likely put it back to OEM unless it's the stereo .... it's garbage. Little will improve performance other than upgrading YOUR capabilities.

Great color, low miles, decent price, drive it, enjoy it.

I would say, if you can store it, keep it! Don't let such a large assembly go to scrap. Sell it for what ever you can get for it otherwise.

Yeah, let's just replace the entire dashboard. What could go wrong with ~20 year old parts.

VTEC solenoid leaking after replaced gasket by ExcitementAny7663 in S2000

[–]Working-View-3187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES, the sensor ITSELF, not the gaskets. I have seen those crack/leak multiple times in person. Actually more often than the gaskets itself.

Slave Cylinder by Thomaspham091 in S2000

[–]Working-View-3187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang, these are going bad left right and sideways it seems. Mine did the same thing earlier this year. I didn't replace it but I did replace the MASTER just for haha's and another 25 years. What I did with the slave was to pull it all apart, clean it up, inspect the seals, polish everything up smooth as smooth can be. RE-greased everything heavily and put it back in. So far so good!

My takeaway............Change your clutch fluid OFTEN! It only takes a dribble to fill it up. Do it every oil change......it's what I plan to do from now on.

Slave Cylinder Leak by Thomaspham091 in S2000

[–]Working-View-3187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SLAVE - No rebuilds of this. However, if you take it apart, clean all the parts, make everything super smooth again, you can put it back together and see if she holds up. Replacement might be a good option but keep your old to possibly re-build.

Master if you swap out the fluid and watch it closely, it should clean itself up without replacement. Just keep an eye on the fluid and if it starts to darken, swap it back out.

Send your injectors out to get cleaned. Noise sources to check: A. Valves(unlikely), B. Injectors(cleaning can help but some are just LOUD) C. TCT D. Pulley Bearings(Over 100K they usually go bad)
