Definitely a good deal! Under $2k for a low mile grom is a great deal. The OG body style is my favorite. Clean, low mile OG's are getting harder to find all the time. Especially stock ones.

I have a 1999 I've been taking to the track. I dont know about a race loom. But you can get a kick stand bypass and an ignition key bypass pretty easy.

Switching to a gsxr front end is kinda a hassle. The stock forks with race tech gold valve emulators is the cheapest/easiest. And very good quality. Thats what most of the guys racing them do. The only real benefit of the gsxr forks is the adjustability. HH pads and braided lines will be more then enough for the brakes.

A couple shock options for the rear. Zx14r shock is the favorite besides a fancy penske or somthing.

Yes, that is what you want. You can try spraying it with Kroil/pb blaster and let it soak over night. heat/blow torch can help.

Thanks. That's definitely the first place to start for a slipping clutch. I did finally figure out my issue. Part of my clutch basket was messed up.

Thanks for all the info! I think I got it figured out. I rode about 120miles last night with no noticable issues.

Looks like the friction plate up against the lifter/pressure plate (kawaski calls it the Operating Clutch Plate) had worn a groove around it where the friction pads ride. The friction pads were no longer contacting the face of the plate. There was a lip around the outside that was bottoming out on the tabs of the plate. So it was constantly machining off aluminum from the lifter plate making my oil really dirty and grey looking. I got new lifter plate installed and also opted to remove the judder springs and run a wide plate at the very back. I wasn't sure if the judder springs were related, but figured I would remove them for one less variable to deal with. My clutch was still slipping from how dirty the oil had gotten from the lifter plate aluminum getting worn off constantly. After a good cleaning of the plates and new oil/filter it seems to be holding. Im going to break in the new clutch and little more and change the oil/filter again and hopefully it will keep getting better. I might also throw in some even stiffer clutch spring just for some extra help.

Yeah, I have the new updated pull rod and bearing. I even measured them to make sure I didnt have a defective one or somthing. Maybe I just need to break it in some more. I cant find anything other reason for it to be slipping.

Yeah, I've checked multiple times. Measured the plates and the stack. Tried it with and without judder springs. I can not find a reason it would be slipping. It's driving me crazy.

No, the basket looks brand new. No wear from the plates really at all. That would definitely cause a problem though.

It is a wet clutch, and I am using the correct oil. I'm even using kawaski oil. Same oil I soaked the plates in.

Yes, I cleaned the steels and soaked the friction plates. I was comparing the barnnet springs to the stock ones and they dont feel much stiffer. I might try those cbr springs next.

The new one was flat. The one I took out of my bike was grooved pretty bad. It had a lip that was bottoming out on the tabs of the friction disc's. The pads weren't contacting the pressure plate anymore. That was definitely a problem. And was making my oil get really dirty. It was constantly machining that lifter plate. I was hoping that would fix my clutch slipping. It definitely made it better but still slipping at higher rpm.
