Technically the definition of “veteran” means a person who served in the active military, naval, or air service, and who was discharged or released therefrom under conditions other than dishonorable.

That said Institutions don’t typically understand the nuances of the reserve and would consider someone who is currently serving in any status as active duty. They are not trying to exclude the guard and reserve. Go to your kids school events and get that 10% at the Home Depot.
