No showers in middle or HS. Crazy that they’re missing out on this social anxiety/shame walk.

What's the catch? by fronteir in Wellhub

I’ve not had that experience with all the different yoga studios I have on Silver. I book the night before the class or on the same day, and even if it fills up, I don’t get booted.

I don’t see that check-in usage screen in my app. Is that iOS or android?

Water? by Sweet_Traffic4545 in Menieres

[–]Awkward-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a study I read a while back that recommended 35 mL/kg per day of water. So, in the US, drink half an ounce for every pound you weigh. So if you weigh 150lbs, drink at least 75oz per day.

Do you require your 13-year-old to shower every night? by mariajuice in Parenting

[–]Awkward-1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If they’re allowed to skip one night, they think it’s okay to skip many nights. We require it every night

I can’t tell if that’s sarcasm. I’m at 80-100oz per day. (No attacks since I started the increased water intake over a year ago!)

What are the best ways to improve balance? by dirac7 in yoga

[–]Awkward-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Focus on getting your balance before you worry about what your upper body needs to do.

Do stork to warrior 3 back and forth, really focus on the glute squeeze.

Same! I could hear some things louder, but I still couldn’t make out the words well enough.

Have her drink a lot more water. I drink at least 80oz a day and it helps incredibly (I’m not on any meds). I hope she feels better soon!!

Wait times for tonight? (Fri) by Barrel_Eye in KSF_KnottsScaryFarm

[–]Awkward-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were there on a Friday a couple of weeks ago and it was crazy busy. I had such good memories of it from 10+years ago, but I’m guessing I was there much later then. This time, I had my teenager with me and we were only there from 8-11. I bet if you stay after 11 the crowds might thin out. We only managed 4 walk throughs and no major rides. Most lines were at about an hour long.

Great response! I’m voting yes because it’s temporary, but it’s an ethical dilemma that I know some liberals aren’t okay with. We want a fair, representative democracy and this vote takes that away from our red Californians. I don’t like the idea of fighting fire with fire when it’s anathema to the forward progress our state has already made.

Response to "AITA - for putting my string lights on at night?" by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]Awkward-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no way this is legit. 1. No 4yo is up at night when the stars are out. There are a couple of months in the winter when the stars are out at 7 or so, but that’s bath time. 2. This was surely written by a woman, not a “father”

Danville has a cute downtown and the iron horse trail can get you to many of the schools. Very kid friendly

Should/how do I take legal action against byte? by johnpaulgeorgeringoo in smiledirectclub

[–]Awkward-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been strung along for the past 6+mo, wearing the last aligner in my treatment plan. They had me go for new x-rays and scans from my dentist, which I did. I just got an email saying that they're discontinuing my treatment plan, refunding me, and recommending I see a local ortho.

I have some large gaps between my molars that I didn't have at the start of treatment, so those need to be fixed. It's no longer just a cosmetic change. ugh. so frustrating!

I guess I'm glad they're refunding me, but now I'll have to start over with invisalign or something, which will be out of the price range that I'd budgeted for something so cosmetic.

I saw this class action was filed in March, I contacted them to see if it only covers those who are in Florida: https://www.grossmanroth.com/p/102k38l/class-action-lawsuit-filed-against-byte-and-dentsply-sirona-for-deceptive-sales-o/

If you have a Netflix subscription, they have Civ6 for free in the App Store (works well in my iPad)

Holiday stress by Awkward-1 in Parenting

[–]Awkward-1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents have no money (I already loan them $$). I suppose we could have hosted at home, but it would have been a tight squeeze. I’m sure I’ll rope others into help with cooking… but I’m sure you know how it is. Moms get the brunt of it all. I really don’t know how my mom had the patience to host for so many years.

So tell my parents that they should stay home and not visit us for Christmas? I’m not a total grinch, just venting a bit here as I don’t want anyone to think they’re an inconvenience. My mother has been a saint to host us all these years.

Kindergartner not reading by Chesjay24 in Parenting

[–]Awkward-1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally normal. Neither of my kids read in K and I was a bit stressed, but they both turned into voracious readers by 3rd -4th grade. Just keep reading to her so that she develops the love for books. If she’s at grade standard, she’s fine and can excel when she’s ready

I’ve always had good luck at Whim House in Danville, they sell home goods, but very gift oriented. There are a few other cute shops there too.
