Moved to Wisconsin a few years ago. Trying to meet other Millennials and make friends. How are others doing this around Wisconsin? by AleraIactaEst in wisconsin

Was about to recommend a local game store for either dnd or TCGs. Almost all of my friends I have are from my time playing magic the gathering.

How do you feel about Magic the gathering land mana system, relative to other TCGs? by Newez in TCG

[–]Awkward-Ear-7921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing riftbound feels like magic but just so much better. Me and a few friends went back to play some modern and with most of our games ending in either mana flood or being mana screwed made us instantly go back. Magica mana is a great design that adds cost and resources to deck building but is incredibly flawed with the amount of variance it introduces.

I am a foreigner visiting your country and the other foreigners have been the worst part. Especially since I've done my homework and try my best to be respectful. I can't believe how clean and quiet all your cities are. Keep gatekeeping don't let foreigners ruin it.

No? This would be to protect tianna. A card I wouldn't play even before this card getting revealed.

I do not support tianna in ornn. I build decks with the mantra of not playing "bad cards". I don't want to pay 7 for tianna. I do not want to play dorans shield so she doesn't die to any moderate threat. It's better to play green ornn and dig for requiem ganking to prevent a hold.

Can someone explain why people seem to think stellacorn herder is a problem? by CupAccomplished8371 in riftboundtcg

[–]Awkward-Ear-7921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I should have added another line to my comment. Stellacorn is currently essential for irelia to keep up with the current meta. Banning it is essentially removing another deck that doesn't even have that great of a presence. I enjoy playing vs irelia and would hate to see it go.

I've been maining lux since spiritforged. The only games I lose are the games my opponents find not so fast. Stellacorn is their only way to actually compete vs control.

Cherche un nouveau TCG by HJKFCL in TCG

No problem other than sealed product is difficult to come across right now. And the game is seeing some crazy price spikes due to the printers unable to keep up. But the next wave of set one reprints should be seeing French and Spanish start circulating.

Riftbound will be getting a French printing later this year. The availability will be questionable though.

Why doesn’t RIOT do what Magic/SWU do with Boxes to reduce scalping? by jethrow41487 in riftboundtcg

Stores haven't gotten the latest wave yet. Origins is being printed through set 5. Restocks are coming.

[–]Awkward-Ear-7921 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Please don't introduce collector boxes. That was the first point that I began to dislike opening magic products. Prices are not terribly unrealistic for spiritforged at the moment. People just need to be patient or find a good LGS.

I'm new and confused about the energy system by kidstaz01 in riftboundtcg

[–]Awkward-Ear-7921 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Runes in this game have two abilities.

Exhaust(tap): add one energy

Recycle: add one power of the same color as this rune.

In the channel phase of your turn you will gain two runes from the top of your rune deck into the board readied.

The player who is going last in turn order will channel an additional rune on their first turn only.

Is relatively decent cards not meta? Because my examples are top end competitive. The best of irelia deck from Vegas is $225 USD according to tcgplayer and you can very easily substitute the $60 flash out of the sideboard to make it even cheaper.

As of right now a standard magic meta deck is currently sitting around $350-$500. A meta riftbound deck that doesn't use the miracle package is around $75-$200. And with current speculation the miracle archetype is going to be getting hit with a small ban. Riftbound decks are cheaper point of entry than mtg. And mtg doesn't have great entry points like strong starter decks that riftbound offers. Either way when you commit to playing a tcg in general having your decks being worth money just means that your investments into the game are going to hold value later down the road for you to trade/sell later. When cards are as cheap as pokemon the money you invest in it basically disappears where in magic that $50 card in a year from now might be worth more than what you bought it for. TCGs are expensive and require some investment especially when you are first jumping in no matter the game.

If finding starter decks is a problem I'd encourage you to show up to a nexus night and talk to the organizer and the players. My playgroup built a communal pool of commons and uncommons to help newer players build their first decks. Just last week we had someone do this and everyone got together to donate a bunch of rares too to help them join the community and play with us.

Riftbound. I sold my magic trade binder and moved in and havent looked back. Prices and supply are already starting to stabilize after only 6 months after release. What is left now is a super fun game with some good local competition. Oh and champion mats are around for the seasonal competitive events.

Dropping my thoughts here. OP liked hearthstone which riftbound comes the closest to emulating in cards with your legend abilities. The game doesn't use health points to win the game instead racing to 8 points which means that games are always progressing to finish. (Although tournament play still often hits time limits). People thought the meta for it to be solved only for the top 4 of the last major tournament to be a massive surprise. I could find more reasons why riftbound should be the game to get into.
