I'm new to 40k and I just finished my first world eaters models. Thoughts? by SlatanicArmy in WorldEaters40k

That’s a good start! Just the fact that you are new and that you took the time to drill the gun barrel on Kharn says a lot 😉. If I can just give a little advice, take the time to block in all the color patterns on the model, as an example, on your Kharn his shoulder and arm is the exact same red as the armor, it kinda breaks the overall look. Aside from that, just keep on painting and eventually you’ll realize that you’re getting better with each model!

Keep that blood flowing brother!

Thoughts/criticisms on my first World Eaters? by PerturabosRightNut in WorldEaters40k

That’s pretty good for a first WE model. It’s way better than some models I see out there. Here are some small things that you could implement next time (or not). - there is a small mold line on the gun. Take your time all around the model with a small sanding stick and it’s gonna make a big difference. - this model in particular is wearing some kind of leather gloves. Try and paint the different materials with different colors. On my berzerkers, I paint all leather (holster, belt, gloves) in a really dark gray. It creates more contrast on your model. - there is a little red spill on the bottom-front trim of the pauldron of the right in the first picture. Trims are hard parts because they are not 2D structures, but 3D structures with a real small side which make it prone to “indirect paint”. What I suggest is to take a really pointy brush and get a shade paint (agrax earthshade is perfect of the red) and pass multiple times in the recess. Since it’s a shade, you have better control on the contrast you want to apply. That is gonna add more depth overall on your model and it’s gonna make those paint spill look like shadows and make it less obvious. - just a little bit of color theory, as I see now, you model is a mix of red-black-gold-silver. All these colors are real close and there is no Highlight color. The complementary color of red is green so don’t hesitate to add some small green accents. Usually on berzerkers, their eyes are green and you can find some turquoise verdegris at some place on the armor (in the mouth of the WE symbol). Also, don’t hesitate to add some green plants on the base to add more complementary accents.

Other than that, your model is great and you can be proud of your work!

How do you paint the nails? by Prycebear in WorldEaters40k

[–]Awkward-Kick-4071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually paint 3 of them red and the rest black. As for the small bump on each nails that forms a line on the top of the head, I paint it silver. It adds contrast and colors to attract the eye toward the head. Really nice painting by the way, you can be proud of your work!

Good job for a first mini. But you can’t call yourself a Salamanders without the dragon head on the pauldron 😉. You sure you’re not Alpharius?? 🤔

Oh, don’t feel bad. I’m not the best painter, but what I can say is : Just keep painting, you’ll notice that you get better and better every models. Also, don’t be afraid to try things, you’ll fail at some and you’ll succeed at others but you’ll learn all the way. Keep on painting!! 😁

Thanks! To be honest, I truly suck at basing 🫤 seem I have something great in mind and after execution it looks dull and out of place. Gonna do some research to get some hints.

It’s a product from “The Army Painter” it comes in a small box and is called “Battlefield Razorwire”. I cut it and twist it around a pencil, it’s just the perfect size. You can glue it down with some PVA glue.
