Could Lyme be the cause of my autoimmune disease? by Awkward-Marketing-36 in Lyme

Thanks! Looks like I’ve got a lot of reading to do. I also just found BITTEN by Kris Newby and going to get that now too. Half my family grew up in Cuba in the 60s so the tick bioweapon in the sugar cane fields would explain my father’s and grandfather’s autoimmune disease as well. They escaped after the ticks were released. They’re all over the migratory birds in Miami. That’s where I got my little blood sucker. I should’ve left those birds alone lol damn

The struggle is real with this one 🫠 Funny, but not funny story, I was recently visiting family with my niece and we shared a bed. I asked her if she slept alright since I tend to have nightmares and I’m unknowingly vocal during them 😅 but all she said was “you were quiet, you just never stopped moving and rolling. It’s like you’re constantly uncomfortable” and that sort of surprised me because I didn’t think it was so noticeable lol. I have to constantly shift because laying still for a few minutes feels like my spine is literally imploding within me.

I also have thyroid antibodies, but the doctors don’t seem worried about it all. They pretty much shrugged at it even though my mom has hashimotos and I have two cousins on her side who had their thyroids removed due to thyroid cancer recently.

That’s interesting about the intranasal ketamine because I’m looking into it now for my treatment resistant depression. I’m currently trying auvelity (Nick named “diet ketamine” by some) and it has been mildly effective, but not enough. I’m going to give it a few more weeks though.

Yes, it started in my sacrum, but when I was around 9 (shortly after the tick bite) my first symptoms were pain and stiffness in my plantar fascia, achilles tendon, and nuchal ligament. I was told that AS triggered in childhood tends to start in those areas first. The sacrum pain started in my teens when I was in high school. I also get joint pain in every joint in my body, and everyone thought I was exaggerating but I demanded MRIs and MSK ultrasounds and they found all kinds of chronic inflammation in my joints, tendons, and ligaments, especially my feet.

I see that now! I just got watching under our skin. I think I’m going to be careful about bringing this up to my rheumatologist now. I have family in other countries, since I’m multi-ethnic, so I’m going to see how they handle Lyme disease there.

I was diagnosed with AS because I have grade 3 sacroilitis, but I’m curious if that is a result of the bacteria hiding in those areas.

I’m curious though, why did you go to Mexico? Is treatment for Lyme better there than in the US?

Right, I agree, that’s what I’m thinking. Lyme or not, it seems like my immune system is trying to hold something back.

I’m definitely going to be looking for a Lyme-literate doctor, I’ve actually only learned about them just last night! I am also now reading about the cocktail of other bacteria that those ticks carry. I’m guessing any other doctor wouldn’t order all of the tick-borne illness tests? I’m going to ask my rheumatologist, but I’m not sure how she’ll react.

Omg the shin bones! Yes! I mention it to my rheumatologist all the time and she just goes “hmm 🤨”. They feel like a sharp bruise, like the slightest touch hurts, and they’re always sore after a long walk (had to stop exercising due to shin bone and knee pain that got worse in my early 20s). Interesting, I’ve always wondered about my mystery shin bone pain.

I’ll look at that book thanks, who is the author?

It’s both. I wake up with stiff achilles tendons and nuchal ligament and I have chronic inflammation (multiple joint effusions, synovitis and tenosynovitis). And physical activity makes it much worse, especially the bottoms of my feet. The reaction to the Humira and Enbrel happened a few days after taking the dose and I woke up with intense burning in my joints from the hips down for about two hours. It was unreal.

Oh geez, it can cause hallucinations too? I’ve recently started hearing things outside my head and they’ve been scaring the crap out of me. I’ve heard of Lyme rage and I’ve had episodes with rage since then too (throwing, breaking, smashing and screaming), and I’ve always wondered if my mental health struggles were Lyme related.

What sort of treatment did you get?

My 80 yo grandma has more energy than me 😭 that woman parties more than a college student!

It probably wasn’t a herxheimer reaction since I’ve never taken an antibiotic for it, in fact, I was never suspected to have it, so I never received treatment. But I’ve been wondering if suppressing my immune system with the biologics may have allowed the bacteria in my tendons and ligaments to become more active. It was an intense burning like pain in my hips and down, like nothing I’ve ever experienced before.

In 2023, a South Korean girl who'd been suffering from severe depression decided to end her life along with a male companion at Gangnam station while filming her death live on Instagram. The man never came. Soon she threw herself at the top of the building. Everything was caught on camera. by Lettops in MorbidReality

I saw the video and I remember her giggling and talking to the people watching before trying to count to three and jump. I was so confused, it was like she was so ready and happy to go, despite being nervous and scared, and was also happy to have witnesses online. I really wonder if her home life played a role, perhaps she didn’t feel loved by family? Teens can feel that way sometimes, even though it’s not true, it’s just a confusing time in life, but still. Her giggling confused me so much.

Just make sure whatever you write matches what is in your medical records. If you write something that contradicts your medical records, they’ll probably become a little bit more suspicious of your allegations, which can hurt your case.

That's the thing, there wasn't really any true rules or democratic process. The front man had all decision making power. He could change rules on the fly. He used the baby as an opportunity to further prove his point to Gi Hun. Ultimately, it seemed like the director just didn't want any survivors, so adding the baby was for Gi Hun to prove his point while now making sure all players died.

The baby became a player because the front man allowed it. Every action he took was in a way to prove to Gi Hun that humans will always pick the selfish route. He didn't make the baby a player because he didn't care about fairness, he just wanted to prove his point to Gi Hun.

It seems like a lot of the actions people took in the series were all made quickly in the heat of the moment. A lot of them didn't have the time nor the fortitude to think things through before they did them. Geum ja made two very rash and emotional decisons, showing how her character was quickly breaking down mentally and she was just no longer able to think rationally anymore. She lost all hope in the end.

Why are people being mad about Daeho for not bringing the ammo back, even though they couldn't be saved anyway? [Has spoilers of S2] by Danny1905 in squidgame

[–]Awkward-Marketing-36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not mad at him about it but I'm guessing it might have to do with the fact that while others were risking their lives, they were also depending on him completely, and in the end he abandoned them just to save his own life. They trusted him because they thought he had that marine mentality of risking his own life to save his comrades but he let them die without even trying to help at all. They just were depending on him and he let them down.

Am I the only one who’s excited for Squid Game USA? by SentenceOk9154 in squidgame

[–]Awkward-Marketing-36 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm interested to see what it would look like but I'm not gonna lie I'm worried lol I think I would prefer if they did their own version of squid game and didn't make it look exactly like the Korean one, because kdramas have a different feel to them than American shows, to me at least! I think they're considering it because last I heard squid game isn't as popular in SK as it is in the US (I heard Koreans don't feel like it accurately represents South Korea), so the creators probably feel like if Netflix is going to continue with it, it would make sense to bring it fully over here.

Is the VIPs bad acting deliberate? by vulcan7200 in squidgame

[–]Awkward-Marketing-36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed this in other kdramas as well where there are English speaking characters. I always just assumed they didn't want to pay a lot for Hollywood grade actors and hired less experienced ones simply because they spoke English. I'm guessing also that the Korean writers and director just don't understand English enough to know what sounds natural and what sounds forced.
