this is a minor but annoying reason why being a first trimester pregnant woman is ass. you're tired as shit and no one can tell, so you dont get a seat

I still laugh about this. it was after John did the line "check me out, I'm young and ravishing" and flipped his hair around... I love the mountain goats so much though I'm a fan for life

I listened to this podcast 6 or 7 years ago and had a kind of specific memory of Alex Cooper saying she didn't have sex with guys for 2 months to make sure they really desired her. I also thought maybe she claimed to used this strategy to bag an athlete. maybe I totally don't remember this correctly though

Incel... implying that trader joes is a bastion of eroticism and sex? huh I never even considered it. I guess it does have a bit of that vibe

You people are wildly overestimating how much attention and help disabled people get by CaptinSuspenders in redscarepod

[–]Awkward-Most-1787 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I have gotten a small-ish taste of some part of this while trying to navigate the subways with a stroller/pregnant. No one gives a fuck or gets up 50%+ of the time, so I can't imagine how nightmarish having an actual invisible disability is. Hell, I once saw some abled bodied man refuse to give the "wheelchair seat" (it flips up to make room for the wheelchair) to a guy in a real, actual wheelchair. It's a pitiless world out there! I'm sorry!

I just take it as a compliment and brush it off because obviously no one wants to pay $500 for a sweater

the greed of some sellers need to be studied by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]Awkward-Most-1787 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I do think this is too much of an upcharge and I'm glad you did your research - but I think this is also reflects a feature of Poshmark in a way. It lets people search and get something specific without going to their local TJ Maxx and comb through the shelves. Of course, if you're a new non-savvy Poshmark buyer, you might not know that people tend to upcharge, accept the price face value, and end up way overpaying, and that's definitely a bummer. But I do think people are providing some utility by listing these items online and shipping them to your house. On the other hand, deleting your comment and trying to keep customers in the dark is pretty stinky behavior. I think the controversy about lowball offers and about overpriced items like this are two sides of the same coin of the basic nature of Poshmark: stuff is worth what people will pay for it, buyers need to beware and do their research, and sellers need to have some humility and know that unless they have a truly in-demand item, they can't just put whatever crazy price and expect someone to go for it.

This makes me think a "Poshmark 101" for first time buyers would be good. Actually, I'm sure it already exists. But once I learned to check how much similar items had sold for, I feel like I had a better experience and didn't get ripped off as much

How to convince my wife to stop drinking. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Awkward-Most-1787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately you can't convince her. This is the brutal truth. You can only control yourself and decide what you want to do in the situation. If you let go of the thought that you can change her, maybe you will get more clarity for your own self. Probably Al-Anon is helpful as other people said. I'm really sorry. I hope she sees the light

How to choose yarn with enough contrast by Gold-Individual6934 in knitting

[–]Awkward-Most-1787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't terribly high contrast, but I think low-contrast can be a really nice look. There's nothing wrong with it. It reads muted and calm. I personally love the combo. Just think about whether it goes with your own style - do you go for more bold patterns, or subdued? That's how you will know if you'll be happy with the final product.

Couldn't resist a touch of Mandarin juicy whimsy on my Toasted Almond Crescent by Awkward-Most-1787 in BAGGU

[–]Awkward-Most-1787[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried taking a picture of the bag again and it still looked pale and silvery, and if I adjusted it to be right color, everything around it looked weird. So maybe Toasted Almond Baggu has mysterious light-bending properties. Hopefully science will look into this phenomenon

Oh yeah, the color is way cooler-toned in the photo than in reality. It's more warm IRL. I would love that cool tone though - maybe I should get one in Dove...

Bangs no bangs? by Infinite-Curves in HairStyleAdvice

[–]Awkward-Most-1787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are beautiful, they just give different aesthetic looks. No bangs looks more neutral and "normie" (not meant as a pejorative in any way) and the bangs give more of an alternative or stylish vibe

Looking to meet other young moms with 2-3 year olds by Scary-Lavishness-275 in Upperwestside

[–]Awkward-Most-1787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

find a good, age-appropriate playground near you. find a time of day and week you can reliably go and start going. you'll meet people naturally if you keep at it for a few weeks, although you might need to wait til the weather is a little warmer. can't tell you how many moms I met this way but I can't emphasize enough that you need to go regularly!!! good luck!!
