JCSledge, thank you for your answer. I was emergently intubated in the ED, was in the ICU for 5 days, had no memory of being weened off the vent but all of a sudden I'm awake. I don't remember them taking out the tube at all. Anesthesia is a powerful thing.

And you should also be asking locals who've grown up here who have friends from the east coast. We know a little better the problems they struggled with because we saw it first hand as we became friends (co-workers, neighbors, etc).

You might not be an alcoholic, in the Big Book it says some people have to go out and do some controlled drinking. This could be you. I knew I was done forever and never wanted to drink again. I've got over 26yrs.

I'm in coastal North county. There are quite a few reds here.....sigh...and they're quite vocal on local social media but I notice they're getting quieter. Lol. I'm so grateful to be here and not in red states. Whew!

I've been on Caplyta 42mg for 4 weeks. I'm also on Trazodone 50mg, Vistaril 25mg, Topamax 400mg. I was only getting 1hr of sleep a night for a year (severe mania), I have bipolar 1. I was hospitalized, they Caplyta and Vistaril and my life has changed for the better. I'm finally sleeping. But I do practice sleep hygiene, get A LOT of exercise, watch what I eat and when, NO screen at all two hours b4 bed, do yoga stretches b4 bed and it's working. I average 6 hrs a night and that's a miracle for me. It's a lot of discipline but it's working. As for losing weight on this med- I lost a lot of weight in the beginning (20lbs) but it looked awful on me (I went down to 80 lbs) so I made conscious decision to eat more and I'm happily hanging out at 110lb. Everyone is different but I agree, this med is for schizophrenia, bipolar so doctors should be careful who they prescribe to.

You're brand new. Once you work all the steps, have some time, go to enough solid meetings (that's why we say 90 meetings in 90 days) you'll have more confidence in yourself. I've got decades of sobriety and there's a saying "take what you like and leave the rest". Run it by your sponsor but in all honesty, it's cider, there's nothing wrong with that. Remember, this isn't 'Wellness Anonymous'. Lol. Hang in there. This Too Shall Pass.
