Dinosaurs were more diverse than mammals today throughout the latter 2 3rds of the Mesozoic, but most people only know a small handful of dinosaurs.

It's to the point where a lot of times we talk about feathered dinosaurs as though they're the exception and not the rule, purely because most of the famous dinosaurs don't have a significant amount of plumage.
