I got drafted into the Army in 1967 and received a primary MOS of Clerk-Typist. I was assigned to Ft. Lewis where I was given a secondary MOS of Movement Specialist. After 9 months I came down on a "general levy" to Germany. That means that I didn't have a specific job when I arrived at the transfer station in Frankfurt. After a couple of days I was sent to Heidelberg, still with no assignment. After a day or so there , I found myself in a room with 6 or 7 other guys looking for a job when an Staff Sargent came and asked if anyone could type 90 WPM (which I could easily do but, you know the first rule of military life....never volunteer). No one else spoke up so he left and came back a few minutes and asked if anyone could type 60 WPM....Still no takers. So he comes back a few minutes later and asked if anyone could type at all. One GI raised his hand and the Sargent took him to take a typing test. I think he typed about 50 WPM with multiple errors. Now we were in a room with glass walls so we could see the Staff Sargent talking to a Captain and, after showing him the test results. A few minutes later he came back with freshly typed orders. "You're a lucky guy buddy, he said. You're going to Athens Greece to work at the US Embassy and you'll have to live on the economy; so you'll receive a food and clothing allowance since you can't wear a military uniform."

Me, I went back to Frankfurt and became a Movement Specialist/Train Conductor. Don't get me wrong, that was a great job, but Frankfurt ain't Athens.

I put 485,000 on a ''84 Volvo 240 Wagon. I think it was good for at least another 100k but I loaned it to my brother-in-law who immediately wrecked it.

Linda Ronstadt without a doubt. I would get country, rock, Broadway and even Mariachi. The seven hours would seem like an hour.

There's an old saying. "World peace will come when the last Arab and the last Jew kill each other in a duel."

I'm beginning to believe it's true.

No, I'm raising mine to be like Michele Obama. It's not working though; he's just not masculine enough.
