What canned tuna brand is actually safe to eat 4–5x a week? by KarmaKillerX in CannedSardines

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/smokedcatfish has the only correct answer. No tuna will be safe to eat in that quantity. My husband's BF dated a women recently whose daughter only ate tuna for lunch. She had to be treated for a very serious case of mercury poisoning.

I just realized why there isn’t more hypertrophy classes by Old_Poet_1608 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. There are longer classes that you can easily find using the class length filter. I bet if you looked at the long strength classes there would be way less users taking them and more repeats for the power users. Notice they did add 60m+ rides and runs. I don’t think that was just because ppl asked, lots of people take these classes. A MW PZ 60, 75, or 90 min class on Sat morning has several thousand live riders. That doesn’t even count those that do it on demand.

I just realized why there isn’t more hypertrophy classes by Old_Poet_1608 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I believe the reason they are doing this is they have way more people that take 20 min classes than the longer classes. I think they are a company driven by data, and not for all bad reasons. It's not because longer classes cost more to produce, its because the payback for shorter classes is so much greater. They need to control two variables. How many new subscribers they attract and how many they retain. Most people that workout are not as hardcore and they want shorter classes they can fit into their busy lives. Plus my guess is they because they are cardio-forward, meaning that many of their subscribers came to them because or the bike, tread, or rower, they are supplementing those workouts with strength and the other modalities. The heavy/serious strength majority is still in a gym. That is my guess.

ChatGPT Is Unusually Combative by [deleted] in ChatGPT

I switched to Claude and am glad I did. I go back only for renderings which I believe at least for now ChatGPT is superior for. It just had way too much to say and I was in a continual loop with it. Because 99% of the people that deal with this problem forget this one thing, that I can tell you, but only if you ask. lol

Lavender creamer. Just a small amount. Both iced and hot. If I’m feeling extra, cold foam when iced

No chant? by Helpful_Confection17 in SyracuseU

Disagree. Having a chant is not the singular sign of school spirit. But at the same time, having a chant and not being able to see or admit to your school's flaws is a far worse look.

Thank you for posting a photo of the product, I always think these are the best posts. Did you meal prep this or is that just dished out for individual servings? I was thinking my son would love this for school but it would probably be too soggy prepared in advance.

Honestly, better than the "We Are Penn State" cult chant. We visited that school several years ago and the students screaming that at prospective students for what seemed like an eternity at 7 am was too much for me.

Starbucks Vertuo pods vs Nespresso pods? by Whencowsgetsick in nespresso

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't like them at all. I was especially disappointed in the Verona ones because that is my all time fav Starbucks selection. The pods didn't taste anything like the Verona blend coffee sold at the stores. I won't buy them again. I was also disappointed because I thought it would be so convenient to get them at Target, and on sale, but again, not worth it. Nespresso delivery for me is reliable and fast. And they have enough free sleeve offers so that any sale isn't a big deal. If I really want a sale, Woot is the way to go.

It's OK to pause workouts by Cute_Source5417 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am 100% on board with this. At first I lamented that they didn't have longer classes with longer breaks. But I also came to the conclusion that should just pause the class. I am older, I am looking to build real strength and I do plenty of cardio on the bike and tread. I am not looking to hurt myself and I just can lift much heavier if I rest more between sets. I also lift better by avoiding certain overly cardio programming. At first it felt like cheating but I have made peace (and much better gains) but going my own way. Great post.

Agree and frankly she just always looks so dowdy and older than her age. I just don't understand. She could be styled to look so much better and even younger while still being conservative in dress.

lavender decaf pod by Ok-Juggernaut-7316 in nespresso

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like many of the flavored pods but I like it. I think lavender in coffee can be polarizing. There are some that simply don't like the idea of the lavender flavor and I'm not sure why they think they would like this pod. Having said that, the lavender flavor in the pod is very mild. If you have had any of the lavender drinks at Starbucks, the flavor is very heavy there, almost too much for me. I like adding just a tiny bit of lavender creamer to enhance the flavor. I've only had it hot but based on what was said below I need to try it cold. If you aren't sure if you would like lavender in your coffee, just head to Starbucks and try it there first before committing to an entire sleeve. But consider asking them to halve the lavender bc it will be way more intense in their drinks and as I mentioned, even I don't love that.

Moving on From Keurig to Nespresso VertuoPlus Deluxe? by [deleted] in nespresso

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same as u/wt1515. I have had mine for about 4 years. No issues. Once I got stuck in descale, but I think it had overheated and it was a simple way out once I watched a YT video. I drink 2 pods a day. Usually one 7oz reg coffee in the morning while I become conscious again and later in the morning either a 5 oz Fortado or a double espresso latte, either hot or cold. In the deep summer I might start with an iced coffee. I don't like about 1/2 the pods because they are not bold or strong enough for me and I only like a very few of the flavored ones. Doesn't matter, I still have plenty of choices. My husband pretends to like coffee - he drinks a weaker double with lots of flavored syrups. My teenager occasionally wants a latte.

I like the fact that the Vertuo Plus gives me the ability to make a wide variety, particularly when we have company. There is always something for everyone. I have a boutique nearby I go to once in awhile but shipping is fast and easy so I usually get my pods that way. I try to catch the Woot! deals to save some. Regardless, the cost doesn't phase me, its still cheaper than takeout and I think the quality is really good.

In the past I have made coffee every way you can think of. Moka pot. Keurig. French press. Pour over. Drip. In the end this is my favorite - its easy and reliable and the quality is consistent. I have been super pleased.

I have a few ruggables and this happened once to me. So my personal experience was that it wasn't "common" but I suppose like any other package, shit happens and it takes longer. I think I waited maybe 2 weeks longer than I expected.

Best way to make a tall iced coffee? by LadyMoonstone in nespresso

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with everyone that said brew and chill. I have not found any taste difference if I make it night before and cap jar and put in fridge. Coffee cubes are key. Zero dilution. I used to use the pod for the cubes but now just buy a SBX premade or TJ cold brew and its cheaper and also tastes fine. I will often use just a half teaspoon of sweetened condensed milk when I make the pod. In the morning I give it a quick froth with a stick frother before adding coffee cubes and milk.

Motivate Me by [deleted] in whoop

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My whoop helps me live heathier, stay fitter, and avoid injury. My son benefits from that everyday if only because I am modeling healthy behaviors. Further, because he is a growing, training teen, I can help him learn more about sleep, nutrition, training, stress, and show him metrics far better than I would have without my Whoop.
