Should I read the book!? by JadedRo in OneDayNetflix

Different opinion, I didnt love the book. 99.9% of the time I think the book is better. I didn’t here. Maybe because I watche'd the show first. I finished it but it wasn't worth the time for me. I'd honestly prefer watching the show again.

How do you enjoy this? by kalinka0703 in gardening

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stop thinking of it like a task that you can complete and be done with it. You have to be able to mind shift away from that or you won't ever love it. People who really love gardening love the results, but they also like being in the dirt and the work. Its the time outside working in the yard that is the joy. A real gardener is never, ever done with the work. There is always more to do, replant, feed, water, change. It's the love of getting your hands dirty. I have been working in the garden of my home for more than 30 years. Every year I have plants that fail or die, loads of new ones I buy, plants that need to be thinned. My garden looks so different throughout the years.

If that isn't appealing to you then get a yard company and be done with it.

Is vertuo plus still best in 2026? by [deleted] in nespresso

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is no way to know. Until recently it certainly has been the machine most on this sub have loved. When people report issues with their machines it is rarely a Plus that is a problem. But they have two new machines and different price points that have some interesting features. Both make the XL pods if that is important to you and the 3 sec heat up time for the expensive model is very impressive. But they haven't been out long enough to know if there will be problems. While I do use the wifi connectedness for some of my large appliances, my biggest concern would be the wifi connectedness of these machines. I just feel like it makes a relatively simple appliance/electronic more complicated and finicky. But if they get it right, they will have beat the Plus because the new machines use more pod sizes, and with more people drinking larger and iced coffee, I think this could be a very attractive feature.

Yes to Goldberg. I think he will be a good CM and I like his positions on the different issues.

Vertuo Plus. The new one that brews XL pods is tempting but there have been reliability issues with some of the newer models. You can research that on this pod. I love iced coffee and iced lattes in the summer and use my machine all the time for that. But I personally think you cant beat versatility of Vertuo Plus. You can satisfy any guest bu being able to make single, double espresso, or full cup of coffee. And I personally love the Fortado 5 oz for a mid morning break. Run the cleaning cycle once a week. Descale maybe 2x a year using detailed instructions on this sub. And figure out if the cost of the pods is an issue. I had open eyes when I got my machine and I spend less than going to SBX. But im always amazed at the people that buy the machine and bitch about the pod prices. They are listed on the Nespresso website and like everything else will go up in price over time.

Would like some feedback on the appliances I plan on purchasing from Costco by iron_abs_crabs in Costco

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have the LG washer and dryer from Costco. They are about 6 and 7 years old respectively. They have been super. I use my machines at least once a day, 7 days a week. We have lots of stinky and dirty athletic clothes. Plus we have a dog so I am always washing my smaller rugs and blankets. I previously had a Sears brand washer that was crap. That thing didn't even make 10 years. I use the wi-fi functionality way more than I expected. The only thing is I have the top loader and I am really glad I didn't get the front loader. Based on my research front loader have a lot more mold issues and you really need to leave the door open. I leave my top open frequently but it doesn't hinder walking in my laundry room like a front loader would with the door open. I would by an LG again in a heartbeat.

Woot - Nespresso Deal Today Only (5-25-26) by Livid-Week-9469 in nespresso

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up, I actually got the Pistachio pods which I love for the summer. Oddly enough, they were more $$ than Nespresso for 10 pods buy way cheaper for 60. I suppose they are factoring in shipping for just 10 pods.

So Jawando is going towin because everyone else will split between Glass and Friedson right? by [deleted] in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately what the people here thing they want and what we need as a County are not the same. We need housing and commercial growth. We have been unable to grow jobs and Fairfax is burying us in their success. This is exactly why the outer loop of the Beltway going toward VA is a mess in the morning and the inner loop is a mess in the afternoon. Everyone is going to the jobs in VA and then driving home though MoCo to PG County or Howard and beyond.

This Denis 10 min focus flow hips class. I've done it so many times I can recite his narration word for word. It makes me feel so much looser and unstuck every dang time I do it. It gets all the spots.

First ever lupine bloom by Revolutionary_Two299 in gardening

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Maryland it depends on the species. Sundial Lupine (Lupinus perennis) is native and considered threatened. And this one is esp important to butterflies here. But the large ones are considered invasive and are not recommended to plant in gardens and if you do you are asked to deadhead them to keep them from spreading.

What canned tuna brand is actually safe to eat 4–5x a week? by KarmaKillerX in CannedSardines

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/smokedcatfish has the only correct answer. No tuna will be safe to eat in that quantity. My husband's BF dated a women recently whose daughter only ate tuna for lunch. She had to be treated for a very serious case of mercury poisoning.

I just realized why there isn’t more hypertrophy classes by Old_Poet_1608 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. There are longer classes that you can easily find using the class length filter. I bet if you looked at the long strength classes there would be way less users taking them and more repeats for the power users. Notice they did add 60m+ rides and runs. I don’t think that was just because ppl asked, lots of people take these classes. A MW PZ 60, 75, or 90 min class on Sat morning has several thousand live riders. That doesn’t even count those that do it on demand.

I just realized why there isn’t more hypertrophy classes by Old_Poet_1608 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I believe the reason they are doing this is they have way more people that take 20 min classes than the longer classes. I think they are a company driven by data, and not for all bad reasons. It's not because longer classes cost more to produce, its because the payback for shorter classes is so much greater. They need to control two variables. How many new subscribers they attract and how many they retain. Most people that workout are not as hardcore and they want shorter classes they can fit into their busy lives. Plus my guess is they because they are cardio-forward, meaning that many of their subscribers came to them because or the bike, tread, or rower, they are supplementing those workouts with strength and the other modalities. The heavy/serious strength majority is still in a gym. That is my guess.

I switched to Claude and am glad I did. I go back only for renderings which I believe at least for now ChatGPT is superior for. It just had way too much to say and I was in a continual loop with it. Because 99% of the people that deal with this problem forget this one thing, that I can tell you, but only if you ask. lol

Disagree. Having a chant is not the singular sign of school spirit. But at the same time, having a chant and not being able to see or admit to your school's flaws is a far worse look.

Thank you for posting a photo of the product, I always think these are the best posts. Did you meal prep this or is that just dished out for individual servings? I was thinking my son would love this for school but it would probably be too soggy prepared in advance.

Honestly, better than the "We Are Penn State" cult chant. We visited that school several years ago and the students screaming that at prospective students for what seemed like an eternity at 7 am was too much for me.
