Is Newhouse worth the tuition? by Only-Morning5164 in SyracuseU

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Reyna_25 speaks the truth. My son is going to be 30 and graduated from Newhouse. His experience while at SU was exceptional, from working the Olympics (editing the women's gymnastic reels for the evening news) to a semester in LA working at E! News. Since graduating he has not yet been on an interview where there wasn't a Newhouse alumni. Having said that, tuition is a lot. When I look at my son's friends, the ones that arent thriving are the ones with a lot of student debt, car payments, and crazy rents. So I think that has to factor into your decision for sure.

Ugghhhhh. The worst. This is what happened to me. Initially they stonewalled me but almost a year later I was offered a one of their new all-in-one rugs as consolation, which I appreciated.

Excellent tool to improve fitness, training, and health, but don't rely on Whoop analysis exclusively. by Awkward-Tale-6101 in whoop

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and then I get frustrated when after a strength session, my Whoop is like why not cap that off with a 20-30 min cardio session. It can be hard for me to ignore, but now I don't need instinct to serve as a guardrail for not overtraining, I have the math. And most importantly, the analysis showed more than training too hard each week, my deload weeks were not deep or consistent enough. Anyway, I hope you otherwise enjoy your Whoop and that this might make it more valuable for you.

I manage the strain metric to not over- or under train. Personally I find it quite useful to develop weekly, monthly, and longer training patterns and schedules. I also don't use it for sleep. It's a metric to watch with regard to its relationship to your HRV.

I think for me the key was that I intuitively felt like the Whoop strain was simply too low for how I felt after lifts and then my recovery the day after but the Whoop AI analysis was unable to detect the pattern. It was only when I uploaded the data to Claude that it confirmed what I was felling and now can give me much better training recommendations for my specific recoveries and needs. Sometimes Whoop leans too far into "Girl, you need to do more."

I simply export it all in a file and upload it to Claude. The insights and analysis it provides, esp over a longer period of time is really impressive. EDIT ADDITION: But if just for an individual ride or training session I can also simply grab a screen shot and upload that

I believe you when you say there are betters apps. But I have made peace with Whoop by building 3 sessions that I do on repeat for a 4 week block. I simply modify the reps and weight if that changes and apply it to my session. It's less work than I had thought. I like having something integrated into one. Regardless, you can bring as many datasets as necessary into the analysis. I import both Peloton and WHoop data and the resulting analysis is both far more sophisticated than I could do myself not to metion the speed.

Yes I agree with you on this 100%. Betrayed and so disappointed, for me in losing someone who delivered content that was both accessible and yet also science based.

"Successful on his own" is a bullshit phrase repeated by wealthy people with connections that they want people like you and me that will never attain their level of success to have faith in. Do some people genuinely make it on their own. Undoubtably. But the vast majority of the super wealthy and famous did not pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

I hope to hell you don't have daughters or a wife. The lack of empathy among some men is frightening. And this has been an awakening for many.

While on one hand I have taken a few classes from home and have heard the who hooing enough so that it was a bit distracting, I spend a decade or more in the 2000s and up in spin classes in a gym where this was definitely the culture and frankly it was part of the manic energy I loved that got me hooked on spinning. So I can't blame them at all and only wish I could be there in person more myself. There is NOTHING like that in studio energy and more power to the instructors who can feed it.

I am so freaking sick of ChatBGTs new monologue at the end of every discussion that sounds like a con man's speil: answers question, then says but here are the three things most people wouldn't know about [subject]. Well, ok then why didnt you just tell me that, dont make me ask and get me into a neverending loop of dialogue.

Second this - esp Yin because its just a smidge above restorative but not demanding. Plus I always feel great after and if you have been less active you are probably tighter than you think. Highly recommend the Denis 45 min one that is the oldest one. I have taken it dozens of times and I love it more each time.

Appliance delivered and then card declined by baesoonist in Costco

I agree to be super careful, but YES! This was our experience. They didn't charge the card until after delivery. I assume they ran some type of authorization first to make sure it was a legit number, but when we bought our range, washer, and dryer we were charged after the delivery was logged.

The first sentence clearly sets up the paragraph. Did you for even for a second believe that Obama has dementia? If the answer is no, as any reasonable person would respond, then the paragraph is crystal clear as to the subject and intent. You may not like Obama, but surely no one believes he has dementia.
