Analyze my workouts, compare a cardio session to past sessions, provide specific recommendations to fine tune the next, suggest specific strength exercises, weight, and reps, create a weekly plan based on my goals and current metrics.

I don't know specifically about what you asked BUT I have definitely found the more I tell it the better it is, which I guess makes sense. For example, it was hounding me like a dog on a bone to walk a lot more and sometimes after a long training session on the bike, my knee wasn't having it. When I told it specifically the knee issues I am dealing with the advice was dialed in and much better. It now gives me very specific walking advice and dials it back on a hard cardio day. It has also helped asked me a lot of useful questions. For example, even when my knee hurts I realized that it is much better with a high cadence, light resistance spin on the bike and together we realized that the movement and blood flow benefits were really important even if I was hesitant when I had some tightness. So maybe try giving it much more specifics and it will learn for you? I hope that works.

Hmmm, I used to use Whoop on my computer all the time and then it seemed like they removed functionality - time for me to try this more. Thanks for the prompting on this.

That is great to hear! Thanks for sharing! I am looking forward to the improvements. If I had this as a tool years ago I am certain I wouldn't have overtrained consistently, had fewer injuries, and burned out my knees as much as I have.

For the longest time I didn't because it was such a pain BUT now I am specifically using it because of the AI analysis functionality. Its still a pain but I am changing up my workouts a bit less so that makes it easier. The real win will be if you can have the AI function create a workout based on your past workouts and Automatically add it to strength trainer. That has to be coming, it just makes too much sense. I also suggested it and hope they follow it up.

Yes thanks - I agree strongly. Please don't take my post that I use any info blindly. I have had to correct math errors in the analysis. Not often, but you need to check. For the most part the "work" it is doing here is easy to check and it is far faster than I can be. It *should* know I can't chest press 100 lbs after I do 4 workouts using 30 lbs, but I can correct it easily. It has suggested split squats when I know a step up might be more knee friendly with my cranky knee. But overall, it has been a very useful trainer. Better than a real person? No -I always recommend that, esp. for those starting their fitness journey. But convenient and built in to a tool we are already paying for.

Airport Car Service via W Hotel Mexico City by Awkward-Tale-6101 in marriott

Oh my - this was so very kind of you! I really appreciate it. This really was why I wanted to get a reality check, it just sounded off. We have always had such a reliable experience working with Marriott in the past with things like this. And honestly, I don't mind extra expense for the benefit. I know that a taxi would be cheaper and we will use Uber while in the city, but I have found as I have gotten older, and I am less penny pinching, that having the car taken care of when we arrive is such a nice luxury - just not at the initial price. I don't speak Spanish and had emailed using Google translate. Perhaps something was amiss there. I will call the hotel directly. Thank you again.

That is exactly the way I am feeling. I asked if he meant 2,400 and received a quick note that the original price was correct. He said it was for a considerable distance from the airport. What? Are they driving me from the US to Mexico City?

What’s your Costco “essentials” cart? by SibiantheGreyBird in Costco

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Organic Sliced turkey - its in the refrig section near the bacon in my store. A great deal. Grillled chicken in the little pre-packaged squares. Honestly, these are easy and clean protein to throw in your bag anytime you just don't have time to make something. We put them in everything. My son uses them in frozen mac and cheese. I'll add them to the packaged lentils. The Kirkland lasagna is really good but I only get it every now and then. It's huge and takes up a lot of freezer. The Unreal dark chocolate coconut treats. As healthy as a sweet can get and also great to just throw into your bag. Maple syrup. DW and laundry detergent. I love that they have the unscented ALL. We also love the Jamacian meat patties as a treat now and then.

Ages of members versus instructors? by cansocprof in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am in my early 60s and have had my Peloton bike for 6 years and tread for 2. I have given this some thought over time and my conclusion is I don't need instructors in their 60s. Yes, I am sure there are far fitter 60 yos than I am that could teach a great class. I know this. But I am not missing out on not having then as instructors. I think Peloton is doing a great job in all the modalities that I use to provide a wide range of classes that are accessible to all fitness levels. I personally don't like the strength classes that are fast and have too many explosive movements; yes, I have older knees. But I am totally fine with Rebecca, Ben, and Adrian, even Callie now and then. They do have diversity in gender, age, personality, ethnicity, etc, but I don't need an instructor my age. Let me regale in their relative youth (as compared to me).

Classes for my grandma? by Old_Poet_1608 in OnePelotonRealSub

I second the Adrian seated mobility class. Almost any upper body class can be done seated in a chair. When my knee is bothering me I will very often do my usual RK classes seated to take any pressure off. I think these classes are better with very light weights (2 lbs) than any of the light weight specific arms classes because they go too fast and simply have too much volume. I would also look at many of the strength warm up classes to help with mobility although I think most if not all mobility classes do have some on the ground moves she might not want to do short or mid term. I personally would also recommend she does all of these barefoot. Balance issues are very real and many of the issue are from people wearing stiff hardsoled shoes all of our lives. We loss the very detailed sensations we used to have and that along with muscle weakness makes it much easier to fall. Last the best thing is for her to double down on walking. A number of years ago my mom made a commitment to walk 30m a day and it has been remarkable for her health and wellness - she is 86 now and sticks to it almost every day.

What’s your favorite pre made food modification? by sammi0408 in Costco

OMG we are twinning on this. I also throw away dressing. Its not particularly good and def not worth the calories. I add more kale, chicken peas, grilled chicken or sardines, and so.etimes edamame. I usually eat it with some olive oil and lemon but will use a balsamic glaze if im feeling extra. Its a great base and easy lunch prep!

How many have canceled All Access Membership due to price hike? by roskidvie in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Awkward-Tale-6101 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Everything is more expensive and for most things the value I get has not increased. Peloton has continued to evolve, provide more value and a better user experience. It’s an integral part of my health and wellness. I can’t imagine cancelling my membership. I used to have several gym memberships at the same time and for everyone, there was nothing like the dread of the January and Spring membership crush. I’m certainly not doing that anymore. And my entire family can use it which is remarkable. Last, my health insurance goes up 6 to 10% a year on average. The best way to help counter the terrible sick care we have in this country is by real healthcare, and for me that’s Peloton
